The song lyrics are about a young boy leaving his rural town/village for city/urban life due to economic reasons! I love how crowd was dancing and singing to his song

So this guy, same time last year, probably was still searching where he would be the waiter in the restaurant for upcoming tourist season. In a span of not full year, he decided to be a singer... wrote, produced and composed a banger all by himself(only one in whole Eurovision contest this year)...was a reserve in national competition, made to the competition because someone droped out...won it...was favorite by the bookies to win Eurovision....won the crowd and peoples hearts...finished at the end 2nd(doesnt matter) ....If that wasnt enough, the prize of 50000euros he get from corrupted Croatian goverment( in song he is trying to tell about young people leaving the country, big problem in Croatia-goverment's fault, what an irony) he gave that to two hospitals because they need it massive respect. 3:30 ... No, even though lyrics seem superficial and silly, they are pretty deep. Baby Lasagna tried in a not so serious way to depict the shi*ty political and economic situation in Croatia that is killing the rural area and agriculture, and forces young people to leave their hometowns and country for a "better life".

He has a great sense of knowing how to pack serious topics in a, sort of, funny way.
Check out his "Don't hate yourself but don't love yourself to much".

People who are not from the Balkans cannot feel it. But the main motif of the song is the original folkloric music, dance, from the Croatian region called Dalmatia. Their clothes are inspired by the folk clothes of that region. Everything is wrapped in metal. The title of the song is a bit silly but the song is very energetic, a great song.

About crochet - as soon as there is a 10x10 cm or less spot of blank space on a shelve or somewhere else, they will start to crochet something to place there. Look behind you - there would be a crochet under the vase, under the pots, on the shelves - crochet, crochet everywhere. That’s why i found it absolutely funny to have these on the drums and highhats and everywhere. Crocheted stuff just belongs to croatia and they made a nice pun about that.

the story goes... at local Croatian competition "Dora" artists compete to represent Croatia on Eurovision, in which show Marko aka Baby Lasagna wasn't even invited... he entered the competition as a substitute for a singer that "gave up" and won the show...went to Eurovision and won 2nd place (best ever result for Croatia so far) but he was peoples chosen and won 1st place in audience voting (the reason he didn't win was political, and all points to jury voting who chose Switzerland to win by historical 12 points giveaway that never happened before just so Israel wouldn't get 1st place "Israel had very big campaign to win and were calling around the world for all jewish people along others to make them first, doing comercials, billboards, even sending messages to people phones at random just to be hosts of Eurovision next year" - I guess they thought it will make people forget what happens in Palestine... so it was politically decided that Eurovision goes to a neutral country next year), and by doing so they directly decided the winner... let's be honest here Switzerland song was good but not that good... they also disqualified Netherlands for some weird reason... so I am guessing if everything was about the music with no political agenda that Croatia & Netherlands would be fighting for the first place this year.
Putting that aside... Baby lasagna song is about a young man who is forced to leave his home village in search of a better life, he is saying goodbye to all (even his cat "and Baby lasagna loves cats, has tons of them at home"), he is going to miss everything & everyone when he leaves (even hay in his barn xD) but before he leaves he is going to hang with all his loved ones and they gonna dance his home village traditional dance "rim tim tagi dim"... now that said, I must point out that Baby lasagna crew is made of friends & familly, no professionals, who practically made the music, choreography & effects all by them selves in 2 weeks in his own room when they found out that they are going as a replacement in "Dora" competition... not to mention that the song was written and put to work by Baby lasagna him self, dancers are his friends, his wife did the choreography & stage effects... and at the end, the show they made had no nudity, nothing to insult anyone on religious base, on the stage they wore traditional Croatian clothes (even used that hand made table tablets that are traditional in Croatia rural parts which you saw on the audience guy's head near the end)... and most of all they connected to the audience & they felt that... and voted accordingly... too bad that it got so political this year... otherwise... like I said, it would be us - Croatia and Netherlands. Croatia out ;)

He does growl it in other performances but he had to change to this way for esc because he was attacked for sound to rock. But it’s a trap techno metal song. It got 2nd and was the closet 2nd we’ve seen in a long time, also one of the highest televote scores in esc history. He only lost because the jury only put him 3rd. And isreal cheated. Like there’s so much drama from esc, he was the biggest favorite to win.

It is so typical for the countries of the ex Yugoslavia. Our grandmothers and mothers used to make millions of these, all sizes and shapes - from the 5x5cm to a cover for the king sized beds. Not kidding. :D
Some 30 - 40 years ago they even used to be a part of the bride's dowry. :D ...and Baby Lasagna is making them trendy again. :D
