What to do if employer or former boss holds back your paycheck

Same thing happens to me! My former employer owes me $1, 500 in unpaid wages. Not only that but she stole my belongings which was valued at another $1, 500 when I was on vacation with my family. She said the stolen property would come in the mail, but surprise! It didn't. Apparently slavery is still an acceptable practice in 2019.

So I’m from Illinois and it is law here if an employer illegally withholds your pay check it’s an automatic misdemeanor and the interest starts accruing from the moment your check was illegally withheld.

For example here if you quit your job and did not give a two weeks notice they cannot withhold your check.

If you have to bring back the uniform and you signed a letter stating they will dock or withhold from your last check they still need to seek permission from you to withhold and if they do interest behind and it’s a misdemeanor violation. However the company can still sue you for not bringing back property.

My work is late paying me, and wants to pay me off over time. Then promptly cut my pay going forward. Yea, keep me handcuffed at my job so I can get all the money owed back and can't fight back with pay cuts, other conditions, etc.

My boss be littered me and treated me like I was a student and called me slow. It was my first day on the job. I gave it a week and I decided that the job wasn’t for me. She mailed off my check and didn’t give me a chance to pick it up. When I got my check I did the mobile bank deposit. My bank has been calling her to verify it and nobody is complying and random people answer and don’t know what to do. She won’t answer her cell phone either and she is dodging my calls and text. I’m from Houston Texas and in the medical field. This is unprofessional and pathetic. I’m a single mother. What do I do? I never been through this before! 😩

There's a government office called hours and wages that's who you call it's against federal and state law to not pay you on your designated payday, work off the clock, not paying you overtime over 40 hours. You don't need to get a lawyer you just call that government office they handle everything.

My current employer is paying days after payday. Billion dollar company cant write a check. Has to come through adp and its taking up to 5 days to get it when its overnight. People need to go back to the early 90's. If this happened in 1992 that man would 1) Be even SLIGHTLY fucking masculine and 2) would be waiting outside his bosses door when he came home and broke both of his legs.
