Ngl this channel makes the job market sound less like a way to make a living and more like legalized exploitation

Do not sign. Simple. If they threaten you, walk to a lawyer.

Well, you've certainly blown this sneaky technique wide open.

I'm so glad I don't work for companies that pull this crap anymore.

The one time I got fired, I told the owner of the company that my two best days there were the day I got hired and the day I got fired. I also told them I'd be happy to sign the documents-after my lawyer looked at them. Naturally, they told me there was no need, that everything was perfectly legal, which is a gigantic red flag. When I insisted on having my lawyer review them before I'd sign, suddenly the signing requirement went away.

Don't sign anything if you get fired. Remember if you are leaving a job you do not have to give two weeks notice.

Myemployer refused to give me a receipt that I turned in all my equipment. They wanted me to sign a paper acknowledging that I understand I would not get that check until they went through all my equipment and confirmed it was all in perfect order. I did not have an attorney at that time, but I told them that my attorney did not want me signing any papers. They kept saying, "This is how we always do it." Eventually the manager spoke to HR and she told them to give me the receipt. I think she knew what they were doing was shady.

Never sign anything without reading it.

Why are they even allowed to give forms that waive your rights??

You are doing great work. Hopefully many people watch these and learn these lessons the easy way. The hard way is expensive.

Documents like this dont get thrown out, yet a prenuptial can because the person was "pressured" into signing it is ridiculous. Gotta love the justice system.

This channel is such a gem. My manager threatened to take broken bags of concrete out of my paycheck and I told him I’d call the labor department on his ass. Wouldn’t have known without this channel

If you already did the work, you are entitled to the pay. Period. Full stop. Non negotiable.

When they say "sign this to get your paycheck" it negotiating.

I'm that annoying person who makes it all take longer by reading anything they want me to sign.

Did this last year after I got fired from Dunkin Donuts after reporting to the owner of the store that the employees were not washing their hands. Felt so good

I just don't sighn anything my company gives me, not even write ups. I just say, "I'll look this over, " then never return it

I don’t do paperwork for companies that aren’t providing either services or paychecks.

Last time I got fired, I took it to my union rep. Company got a big fine for some sketchiness

I was given a written warning (another “abuse of power” story) & they slid the papers for me to sign, and looked surprised that I refused until after I read it. The first time they pulled this stunt I gave it back, with “signed under pressure” on it & had written all over it pointing out the lies it contained. The second one I still haven’t signed. I also didn’t sign a new agreement when everyone received a raise because they included what I call a “muzzle clause”, no ill speaking of the company. Also about what they’ll only give when terminated. Both were written heavy handed & poorly. Many employees refused to sign it.
