I met Dr. Now a couple of months ago while I was in town for cancer treatment at MD Anderson. My wife watches the show and went all fan girl when she found out that you can go to his office and get souvenirs lol. When we were there, the front desk asked if we would like to meet him, and honestly he is really a super nice guy!

The bed not having a fitted sheet is the most triggering

So actually yes! About the fat burning. When people who are extremely morbidly obese get cremated, it can cause a huge “grease” fire.

I love my 600 pound life. That show has motivated me to lose 60 pounds and I have 150 more pounds to reach my goal!

Dr Now is the kind of guy that says what everyone else is thinking- but is too bound by polite society to say. I appreciate his bluntness.

I feel bad for these dietitians and personal trainers, people are so rude to them for trying to do their job. Just because they are angry at themselves, they treat others so cruelly.

gaining/losing a large amount weight because you don’t want anyone to find you attractive to protect yourself is so heartbreaking. i’ve heard similar stories from many women :(

Oh god. That shuffle of the guy on oxygen, carrying two whole pizzas, an entire bag of doritos, and two sodas. I'm just...god. I had a visceral reaction to that.

As someone who weighed 230 lbs at the highest [I am a small girl (5’3”) This weight was morbidly obese for me]. I can tell your mood and emotions are all over the place, even walking feels like a task. Your cholesterol, blood sugar and uric acid are the higher sides. You are miserable when you weigh that much. Over a year I lost weight and am around 147 lbs. I can tell you with confidence, loosing weight is the best thing. I never cared much about how people saw me, but just being able to walk 10k steps in a day and not have my feet hurt to the point of me crying, having more energy. It is so bloody worth it. Do it for yourself! You are worth it :)

Crematory operator here….yeah it’s like oil….usually we do a full day of cool down for the machine before we do a case over 400lbs otherwise you’ll have a flame out the stack once they catch 😬

“I want help”
“Okay here’s an appointment”
“I don’t feel like going to the appointment tho”
“Okay we’ll do a house call”
“…well I’m just gonna refuse to talk the whole time”
???Does she want help or not???

I have seen the whole episode on this woman she is absolutely nuts and she was given so much help and all she wanted to do is treat people like crap and do what she wanted . RIP poor Randy .

“It’s genetic” proceeds to eat a weeks food for breakfast.

She has cellulitis on her legs. Lack of circulation causes infection and leads to those blisters.antibiotics wont help because her circulation is so bad, it won't reach the infected tissue.

You know, I think the family thing is never really about genetics, but about the culture of eating in that family. People may say genetics, and maybe they believe it, but the real reason everyone in a family is fat is because the whole family eats like that. It makes the mental aspect of dieting that much harder, because eating like that is something ingrained from childhood. Like Ken said, the mental aspect is the hard part.

It actually surprised me how much Ken got right explaining how the addiction distracts someone as a relief. I remember my therapist once said that people get into cutting because it's a way for the brain to focus on more important physical pain than psychological pain

Losing weight is a simple intellectual concept (caloric deficit) but simple concepts can still have a high degree of difficulty
