This episode was filmed in 2016. Several years later Dottie’s son Daniel died from cerebral palsy. She initially lost about 270 pounds, but after nearly three years, when she started gaining the weight back, she dropped out of the doctor’s program. In 2019 she was also considering divorcing her husband Chris, due to his alcoholism. Later she filed suit against the series’ production company for a variety of reasons, including unpaid medical bills. (Dec 2022)

Wow! Dottie Perkins went on to lose a whopping 21 stone and she looks completely unrecognisable. Sadly, Daniel passed away when he was just 13 but despite this tragedy, she continues to maintain a healthy weight today.
