🠖 HERE'S HOW TO MAKE YOUR COMPUTER FASTER

Computers slow down for several reasons which we'll go into in this video. Some obvious reasons include lots of startup programs which end up running in the background. But there are some less obvious reasons such as dust on the inside of the PC case, and reducing thermal performance. We'll also go over tips to remedy all these issues and get your PC running, and avoid it slowing down in the future.

“Memory error”, sounds like the thing that happens when you go into a room and absolutely forget why you went there in the first place.

I disabled OneDrive and Dropbox and my PC sped right back up. You're a lifesaver!

My computer was slow and then I deleted 50% of my hentai collection (about 2tb). Now it's all smooth, especially when I use some lube.

All good advice thank you. My aging computer (10 years) recently slowed down. Despite frequently cleaning away inherent dust, I had never removed the heatsink. There was a massive amount of dust around the CPU. Once removed and thermal paste reapplied the computer is now back to full speed.

Two items to consider:

1) Over the years, the hot CPU can burn away the thermal paste that allows the CPU's fan to cool the CPU. The fan can spin away at warp speed, and will have nearly zero cooling affect, if the thermal paste burned away. And if the fan fails (due to dust or a bad bearing or whatever), the CPU will run very hot and reduce the life of the thermal paste. When that paste dries up, your CPU will throttle down, and in a very significant way.

If your computer ever gave off a burning smell, but kept running, and then stopped giving off that smell, then that was probably the thermal paste saying goodbye.
It is usually a simple matter to remove the CPU fan, clean its surface, and put a new dab of thermal paste there and re-install the fan. If you need a shop to do it, it should not take them more than 5 to 10 minutes for a desktop, and a bit longer for a laptop (if they have to remove lots of screws to open the case).

2) If your computer is running slowly, you can reinstall your operating system -- put the computer back to its factory settings (as though it is being turned on for the first time).
Assuming your hardware has no cooling issues, or bad memory issues, etc (and most will have none of these issues), then your computer will run just as fast as it did when you first turned it on years ago.

Of course, make sure you back up your computer, before returning it to the factory settings (because, just like any new computer, nothing of yours will be on it after you return it to the factory settings).

If, after #2 is completed, the computer runs fast (and it probably will), then that means that the reason it was running slowly was due to crap you installed (either intentionally or malware managed to get in).

Cheers!

Another thing to help your hard drive is to check the download folders because every time you download something including software updates, your computer saves the install packages to this folder. And when you update something, the older version doesn't get removed from the download folder. If you go it, you might see a lot of versions of the same program. You can delete everything from this folder without a problem because all these are is the installation files for the programs or updates. If you want, you can leave the latest version of the program or update in there. You might be able to free up a lot of space by deleting those out.

As a former IT professional, I can tell you this isn’t much of an issue on anything but computers running Windows. I ran IT for a media college with two campuses that had hundreds of PCs and Macs, about half and half. It was simpler to just push out new images to the PCs every semester than try to fix and upgrade all the stuff they constantly needed. We even used Deep Freeze, which is an absolute must, even with virus protection on the PCs. They automatically rebooted every night to reset themselves to the frozen mode. Invariably, there would be one or two a week that blue screened and had to be totally reimaged. I will say this, Windows PCs provided job security for my staff, because if all we had to maintain were the Macs, one employee would have done the trick.

Just backup and reinstall Windows. You'll be amazed! It's like getting a new PC! Don't bung all your software on at once. Just install the stuff as you need it.

Clean installs every 6 months to a year. Also when you do a clean install, only install programs you actually use. Never install any software that says it can fix your computer or has the word 'cleaner' in it.

You should mention to beginners to always turn off computer when they opening it. And to turn it off by switch on power source too. Also warn them for static discharges. It sounds like common sense to most people, but I remember when I was very young, I did this mistake and shorten and burn off graphics card. Maybe you could do a video how to safely clean computer hardware. Good video thought, thanks.

Today I learned that, hard drive relates to physics. Love it!

One great way to speed up an old slow computer is to just wipe your boot drive and reinstall windows clean. I do it every year to avoid bit rot and bloat.

Thanks for the video. Watch out for vacuuming the machine due to static discharge. When blowing with air, hold the fan still so that it does not over rev. Reducing the visual effects can make quite a difference to the responsiveness of the machine.
