How to Take the Vienna Airport Train (CAT) to the City Center

Vienna’s airport is about 12 miles from the center of the city.
The standard taxi fare is about 50 Euros, though sometimes Uber is less.

It’s cheaper and even faster to use Vienna’s airport train to get to the city.
The “CAT," which stands for “City Airport Train,” is one of the most efficient airport trains I’ve used anywhere in the world.

After landing at the airport, you can't miss the bright green signs all over the airport advertising the CAT train to Vienna.
Screens and message boards advertise: "Nonstop to the city center in just 16 minutes."

To buy train tickets, you can choose to scan one of the QR codes on the signs, or purchase your tickets at one of many kiosks you’ll pass between baggage claim and the exit.
It’s about 15 Euros each way, and kids ride for free.

Keep following the green signs to the train platform. There’s only one heading into the city of Vienna.

The airport trains are double-deckers with plenty of seating, plus racks for luggage.

Keep your tickets handy because a conductor will come by to scan them along the way.

The drawback is: the Vienna Airport’s CAT train only runs twice an hour.
That means: you might be waiting for a bit on the platform, and you’ll likely have a crowd with you.

Clean and comfortable?! You can’t really ask for much more than that with that kind of transportation.
