How To Use the Ubahn - Vienna

How to use the Ubahn (Subway) in Vienna, Austria. Step by step guide to purchasing your ticket, validating the ticket, and riding on the train. Vienna's public transportation is extremely efficient, clean, and easy to use! Ticket prices have gone up since I made this video, but the system still works exactly the same!

***Note: while you can validate your ticket at the machine where you purchase it, I prefer to not validate until right before I ride - I often like to buy a few tickets to have on hand to use when I want.

***One more note - about getting in and out of the actual Ubahn train: The doors do not open automatically. You need to either press the button or pull the lever to open the door.

For tourist I might also add, that in Vienna ticket gets considerably cheaper for longer periods of time - 4ex a 24h costs as much as 3 one-way tickets. Therefore depending on your stay think about buying 24h, 48h, 72h or even weeklies.
In the bigger stations you also have info points you can get information about the public transport system from and buy tickets - if you dont feel confortable with the mashine.

wow. i live in vienna and really like this video! one thing you could have explained a bit better are the old grey trains (type u). sometimes you really have to pull hard on the lever. so a lot of people just kind of smash it so it opens every time. xD

allso there is a newer map now so i really like seeing the old one again with the s bahn lines all in light blue.
