Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has just announced that Amazon is working on a color Kindle e-reader using Advanced Color e-paper. It will come out in 2025. There are plans to release a 6-inch and 10-inch devices. Likely, a Paperwhite and Kindle Scribe.

I would buy a color Kindle. If people can drop $400-$600 on watches, earbuds/headphones, laptops, thousands of dollars on tv's, thousand on a phone then why not spend money on something someone else enjoys, like reading? I love my Paperwhite and would totally buy a color e reader

If anyone on the design team is by any small chance lurking, we want PAGE TURN BUTTONS on that 6", and at least many people want A STYLUS for annotating 😂

I read a lot of history books and having color would really add to the photos, maps, covers, etc. in those books.

It will be very interesting to see a Kindle with a color screen, I'm sure there are many people waiting for this for a long time.

I just hope Amazon perfects the white in its new color eReader. 500 ppi in both modes, and perfect white.

I was seriously thinking of upgrading my Paperwhite 10th Gen to the Signature Edition this year, but I may hold off now. Although the price could be a deal breaker, especially here in Australia, given the SE is AUD$299, so a 40-60% increase would push it north of AUD$400.

Too little, too late? I've bought each generation of Kindle, but there's so many other color e-readers now with app support. I'm going to try one of those this year so I can break free of only using Amazon.

Stranglehold is so true. Despite that 80% market share, Amazon refuses to allow library e-books on kindle e-paper. This injustice has been going on for 12 years now. The sad fact is that if they allowed this to happen, they would win again getting more sales.

I’ve been waiting for a coloured kindle e-reader. I was planning to get a kindle paperwhite but opted for a kaleido coloured e-reader..might switch to a kindle coloured e-reader depending on how I get on with the kaleido…

Thank you. This was great news. I have the Kindle Scribe, which I do love, but would like an e-ink device with not only color, but a split screen function that allows you to take notes while reading a book. I don't know if Amazon is planning to include that split screen feature in their new lineup next year, but I may not wait to find out. I have my sights set on the Onyx Boox Note Air 3 C and will likely make the move to purchase it when it is offered at a Prime Day or other sale event later this year. Either way, this was certainly encouraging news.

Long overdue option for the Kindle product line.

Since I mainly read non-graphical books, color won't do much for me in terms of the reading experience, but it will make a huge difference for me in the UI for sure. Having only greyscale for cover thumbnails, UI elements and covers themselves definitely isn't ideal, so I'm glad to see Amazon finally coming around to color e-ink. I don't blame them for waiting until the quality and speed to be as usable as it is now, and will look forward to seeing what they do with it.

I probably would buy although I already own 3! But the perfect kindle for me would be a mini scribe with oasis buttons plus color and decent bluetooth. Currently I prefer to listen to audiobooks on my phone ..

They bought Mirasol and did nothing with it. Killing competition?
