I think Boox tab Ultra C is best of all what we can get right now! And it's do the job!

6:05-6:15 My interest in the e-ink tablets started because I wanted to buy a kindle, but I felt hesitant because I like to write notes on the paper. The fact that I can use colors, and write on the kindle app directly, is a really a big deal-maker!

I don’t think that Amazon “needs” to move to color. They need to maximize their note taking/exporting software.

Nice comparison. As to the somewhat darker Kaleido 3 screen in Tab Ultra C - you can lighten it up by using the "cold" glowlight mostly (and the "warm" one to an extent). Also, about notetaking, there is always an option to take notes in the Word, OneNote etc. by using a keyboard (not mentioned here).

I don't think Amazon knows what to do with the Scribe. The note taking feels great on the scribe but it's fucking useless at the same time. The kindle system just isn't set up for productivity. I need cloud support and third party apps and Amazon will never do that with the Scribe because that would spoil the whole point of the Kindle line and that's to sell you their books. You can't even get an annotated pdf out of the damn thing.

I really appreciate the comparison. That is really helpful to me. I have both Kindle Scribe and Boox Tab Ultra, and was considering the 300 ppi color version. I find I like the kindle a lot more just because the brightness of the background. The Tab Ultra looks good under the sun, but as soon as the backlight is turned on, it feels dark and blurry. I am glad to checkout this video before I buy it, it has a good chance of disappointing me. So I will hold on and wait for a better device.
That being said, I really like the Android ecosystem in Boox. Amazon also disappointed me because I have quite a few books categorized as eTextbooks, which the Kindle Scribe can NOT open. They are opening just fine in Boox.

My dream device would be a lightweight 13 inch color e-ink with good contrast and high PPI, in an open operating system like Android. Hope it will some day come to the market.

They absolutely should for things like comics. But they only should when the technology is ready.

I was waiting months and months for the perfect ebook reader to come. Here it is. 10 inches, color, possibility to expand memory for comics and mangas. Really nice this tab ultra C

Awesome, That's what we need! Comparison side by side. Looking for same comparison but only with colour Onyx and Bigme, PocketBook, etc. thanks!

I don’t know why most people would need a lot of the features on the boox notepad. I like the simplicity of the scribe . It everyone is tech savvy and some of the older people can get overwhelmed and confused by so many features. but I do think there are several more things it must have. It should have the ability to write on books, to allow us to use landscape mode and write on a pdf at the same time and I’m sure there are some others.

I think a color scribe color would be perfect for people that have children or grandchildren or that read magazines and newspapers.

I guess you could do those things on an iPad but I prefer the e ink. And also not having the temptation of going online or playing a game on an app.

Almost took the plunge to order one as a tablet for work. Then realize the low resolution in color mode.

Maybe this is the one ... my question is: Does writing also work when you put your hand on the device?

Any idea when Amazon might actually launch a colour kindle? Anything in the rumour mill?

why didn't you turn the backlight of the Ultra C on?

Watching this I felt a bit disappointed in k3 tech due to dark or greyish background of k3. I think they need to remove front light layer from e ink devices and should sell external portable lights. Even if there are people who read at night i think their percentage in total number of people who buy these devices is blown out of proportion. Plus they can always use external light. Making device dark just for that small % of group seems holding tech back. Having black-white contrast is super imp. Try printing and reading on gray background vs white background. If its emitting light, why should i even bother with e ink, LED is better. I have bw eink tab with adjustable frontlights and never turn them on. Its not an eye friendly experience. The sole reason for existence of e ink reader, for me, is absence of artificial light emission and close to print paper feel.

Still neither one has a great background unless back light is on, even if you turn the back light off on the scripe it is way darker then a remakerabke 2

Amazon should focus on the software for the Scribe before color. You can’t make shapes on the drawing app !? Can’t adjust the grid on notebook backgrounds !? C’mon, I could make a better OS for that gorgeous hardware

Could you make a comparison between Supernote A5X and Tab Ultra C? I can´t decide between these two. As a student I feel that the hyperlinks, and table of contents of the notetaking makes the Supernote a very optimal choice. Not sure if the Tab Ultra also has that feature

I'm a bit disappointed that none of these reviews that cover the Ultra Tab C mention anything about battery-charge life.
