Boeing's tough times are self inflected. Profit before safety has never worked.

This is a prime example of "The Cost of Poor Quality".

There are consequences when you put profits over safety. How'd that work out for you, Boeing?

Take the money from the outgoing CEO he's getting 50 million to leave Calhoun deserves absolutely nothing

As ive said before. I'm an Airbus fan, but Airbus needs Boing to keep it in check.
No manufacturer can be allowed to dominate.
Hopefully a change at the top is a start of an improvement.
We live in hope.

Exiting CEO got his golden parachute before this loss announcement.

That number; combined with the fact that Boeing constantly deferred costs over years to lower their net losses, is absolutely astonishing. It basically means they can’t hide it anymore.

That’s so far from profitable that I can’t comprehend it…. The company shouldn’t even exist (in the commercial airline market.) If it wasn’t for the duopoly, they would have been bankrupt years ago. Unfortunately there are a few thousand firm orders for aircraft that airlines NEED. And Airbus can’t help; their order list is even longer.
You can’t expand production facilities further because these orders come in waves and you risk losing massive $$$$ when the wave is over.

Any news about Boeing’s relationship with the Unions? Don’t they have to renegotiate contracts this year?
Rumour was that the workforce is demanding improvements in pensions/health insurance etc etc

If you fix the crap at the top the rest will mend its way. It's not the employees but the corporate heads and politicians.

"Safety culture" will not be achieved without these 2 things to happen fast:

1. The new contract between the management & the workers unions to restore ALL the rights & benefits taken away from the workers ... by the previous contract - in order to regain the workers for the company's best interests

2. To remove completely mr. Calhoun from the company - in order to restore the confidence of the workers to report production & quality problems.
And I'm not saying that mr. Calhoun ordered, directly, the too-soon-deaths of those whistleblowers ... but ... because those deaths "happened" while he was in command + the fact that those two brave men have not - yet - their fair share of justice - > the only method to remove the fear is to remove Calhoun from company.
Asap & for good.

I work for the company. 7 years. You should interview me. We're going out on strike in September. I am a union steward.

Bad news and Boeing ? Is there any other news for Boeing ?

When will folks begin to understand that the only rational thing to do is close the company?

They have to get the upcoming contract right when it comes to the compensation so they can actually compete with the airlines for the more talented A&P mechanics

It's already tough for Airbus to deal with the supply chain delays. But for Boeing, the task will be gigantic. I am afraid it will take years to be reliable and profitable again....good luck to that iconic company. The road to be back in the race will be rough....

Boeings share price is going good, for Boeing that's all that counts right ?

The new CEO says he will be based in Seattle instead of Virginia. Hopefully, that move is the first step for Boeing to rebuild its product quality and image.

Short term profit often turns against you and bites you badly without taking long term damage into consideration
