You're the first YouTube Guy that has, as far as I know, mentioned the harm that can be done when using the Date Hack. Well done for raising awareness. 👍
This should NEVER be done to a Vostok movement it will force the date cam reset leaf spring in the wrong direction up the date cam and fatigue the hell out of it until it eventually breaks. I've had to repair/replace so many of these leaf cam springs, all broken due to the date hack brigade.
Personally, I prefer the classic Vostok watch designs, but of course not everyone wants to buy and maintain an old used watch from the soviet era or slightly later. I find then beautiful and enjoy collecting them.
Treat them with respect and they'll give great service and keep time very accurately indeed.
Buy the new products and we'll keep that factory in Russia alive and profitable. 😉👍
Thanks for the well informed video.

That awkward moment, when you learn to perceive English by ear and discover, that domestic Russian watches are loved in the West )))

Just received a red one exactly like the one you reviewed. Excellent review which encouraged my purchase and an overall great watch!

During the war in 1943, vostok started to produced the watch called k-43, which were used as award watches for Red Army officers.

just a little FYI, I've never seen damage on my vostok from the quick set hack. But if you like the cleaner look of without (and the hack isn't exactly fun) then I ain't about to argue. I've only done it a few times, but now that I have an automatic winder, I don't need to.

I like normal dive watches, but when it comes down to real, serious, honest to god underwater invincibility, the vostok bayonet system is completely without peer. I'm really seriously eyeing one of the vostok europe phosphor bronze case watches, and despite their 200M rating as well, I do kinda wish they used the same crystal and case back as the amphibia/marine komanderski

And I just can't begin to complain how much that the free bezel on the vostok is not an issue. I've been using my amphibia for years as a paramedic. I use the bezel to time seizures, length of codes, drip rates, etc. and even doing CPR for two f**king hours, I've never once seen the bezel dislodge or move. Maybe other people have had loose bezels? But there is a way to adjust the tension in the bezel spring. And having your wrist bent completely at an 80 degree angle pressing on someone's chest so hard that you're breaking ribs, banging your arms and watch on the sides of your IV poles, every square inch of the ambulance and your drug bags, not having the bezel ever move is testament that friction bezels can be just fine. I actually really like that there's no ratchet in there because cleaning your watch is a pain after a trauma code. And if I overshoot on the time set for the beginning of a code (I could honestly just be using a watch with a stopwatch but meh) I like that I can back the bezel up instead of having to go around again.

Even if it does move 2-5 minutes (a big rotation that again, I've never seen) if you're pushing your dive times that close, you're an insane moron who shouldn't have a dive license. Also, every diver has a modern dive computer. Bezels in the dive world are a bit of an antique. I use mine in the real world, but never bother setting it in a dive anymore.

Regarding the date set. The Vostok manual says to use the quick set method. Although what you say does make sense.

Vostok watches do have a quick set date feature that works very well. Adjust the time past midnight where the date change occurs. Then move backwards past about 8:00. Finally move hands forward past midnight, where the date will change.

Btw, this day-hack is described in Russian in the vostok komadirskie user guide. So, this is by design.

I have purchased the Ocean Blue Amphib Scuba Dude and the Red Kamandiskie in the last two weeks. Great watches. One thing. The Kamandirskie is a Russian commander's watch, not a dive watch and it is engineered a little differently than the Amphib.
