Not sure if there is a small drain hole in the bulb on my boat but if it is not used for a long time the fuel drains out yet it works great once pumped up again.

some say to hold bulb straight arrow up as you pump it and that Yamaha bulbs last longer.

So if u the check valve ball moving when you shake it it's good? The one on my boat I don't here the ball and it is not priming

You should look into finding a diesel rated primer bulb. They have a one way valve on each side of the bulb that can be taken apart and cleaned or parts replaced in it and they come with a built in filter than can also be taken apart and cleaned plus one model even comes with a magnet built into it on the suction side to trap any steel dust, rust and crap that may be in your main or tote tank. Handles petrol just fine.

My primer bulb works but my fuel line has a crack behind the clamp- if I cut then fuel line is too short, what can I do ?

I installed a new one and once I squeeze the primer bulb it struggled to re inflate with anything, what do think the issue may be.
