I have a 40 hp mariner on a bass tracker had the same issues. Changed gas line to motor like you and the impeller last was the fuel filter like you said and boat is running like new. Thanks for help figuring out the fix.

Change your fuel too the black fuel line especially in a tank like that that's not letting the fumes out it will eat a stupid cheap liner in the fuel line and clog up your carburetor and filter, I did it a couple years ago I cleaned the carburetor 2 times before I took the line off at the tank and it was clogged with like a white gel.

Awesome video! I’ve had all these same problems with my portable fuel tank, especially here in Texas during the summer. Keep up the good work!

Take off the fuel cap and undo to screw holding it together. Pull out the rubber plug inside the cap. Your vent will now work as it should.

Also, I want to add this about one of your vids on cooling water impeller replacement on a Tohatsu /Mercury 5 or 6 HP, 4-stroke outboard motor . You edited out the part where you fought like hell to get the drive shaft splines to engine, lower water pick-up tube to upper water pick-up tube, and the lower to upper gear shift linkage all aligned up together at the same time so the lower up will mate to the middle unit . 🤨 This is the trickiest / hardest part of water impeller inspection/replacement !

How many miles do you get on a 6hp with that 3 gallon tank?

How would you decide to get the 6 HP outboard *with* or *without* the internal gas tank?

Gas suspense from the heat internal pressure inside these cheap gas tanks will cause them to spend and could possibly blow up and killing somebody😊

I just bought a new tohatsu 9.8

I am reading through my owners manual.

They recommend to use a filter to separate water.

Have you tried that before?

Or do you think a fuel stabilizer is enough to do the trick?

Have you seen born again boating on fuel stabilizers? He stated no to use them as all they do is mix the water with the fuel which in the long term can cause damage to the engine instead he says buy ethanol free gas for your boat .

My motor bogged down on me last week after I filled my tank. Guy on the boat ramp said I over filled my tank causing some vent issues. Could that possibly be an issue for motor to be bogging down?

What should I do if the fuel goes into my internal tank when I try to prime the engine with external tank ? Am I trying to prime too much

You are NOT fully correct in your statements. There is a tank pressure relief valve in the system also . This doesn't allow the tank positive pressure to exceed more than 5 PSI.

Don't you love those government regulation gas tanks. I rip that crap out when I buy one, LOL!!!

Lol my 85 sucks one of those cruise-a-day tanks within a day of boating, half if I troll... boating is an expensive hobby when you want speed lol

Yes it floods my outboard into a non starting condition and causes excessive fuel in the air and water. Stupid epa engineering. Rip off the rubber.
