Interviewing is rough, not getting the job after is rougher. Let’s talk about what you can do if you are constantly getting interviews but not getting the job.

Remember there could be a myriad of reasons why you didn’t get it- internal candidate, someone’s cousin, a person with just a little more experience, need a better culture fit.

It doesn’t mean they hate you, it may just mean it wasn’t the right time.

First, ask for feedback.
Don’t go back and second guess everything you did- you’ll probably end up being overly critical and overthinking it and end up changing parts that were actually good!

But, did you practice enough? Practice is what makes us great interviews!

Record yourself doing a practice interview.

If you really want to get more help- have a mock interview with someone else. You can do this with a friend or family member and ask for their feedback, or you can do it with me!

No matter what, look at each interview as practice and a chance to improve.

Thank you for this I'm in a really dark place right now. I had four interviews this week and I didn't get any well one was because i didn't know the answer to a specific question about performance management. 😅 I do prepare but I think nerves get the better of me because after all these rejections my confidence has been knocked so I tend to over think it.

My exact problem right now! Thanks for this video! I have watched a few of your other interview videos and have learned some great tips!
I used your “questions you have to ask.” The interviewers were impressed by the question, “Is there anything causing you hesitate about considering me as a candidate?” But worded better. They said it showed how I was willing to hear feedback and that I was open to developing myself. Didn’t get it, but felt great after!!

I went to an interview and they told me towards the end that they were looking at an internal candidate but they appreciated me coming in. I felt like I wasted my time, but I realized that it was not meant to be.

My story is really different on how my interview went. Sometimes a person is blessed to walk into the interview, assess the interviewing team and hit it off from "hello".
I loved the "uptalking" at 05:04. It's true, but you did it so well it was funny.

I’ve been seeking employment for 8 months. In that time I have had >30 phone interviews and 8 on site interviews.

I have yet to receive an offer and I feel I am prepared. From your message today I will record my self answering the most likely questions and see how I come across.

I don't think is a problem. Think about it, normally there are about 50 people applying to the same job. It is more into it that be a good candidate.

Yes Ma'am, I appreciate what you say about being patient and keep cool and ask for feedback . But what if the interviewer themselves were poor interviewers ??? I mean those that make you feel unwanted, unwelcome, just by their body language ??? Yes Ma'am, body language, you overlooked this very important human behavior!!! In my UNLUCKY experience, I seem to always get a poorly trained, inexperienced young interviewer who through his /her body language sends out early messages that they are either tired, or fed up, or both and therefore feeling and showing restlessness, impatience, and desperate to get done with my interview just because they just didn't like my mug !!!

I knew I was a great fit for the position but didn't get the job so I emailed to ask why. They said it was because I used verbal crutches that was a bit distracting so that helped me to practice for future interviews.
