Background Check For Employment What Do They Check?

Are you applying for a new job and wondering what your future employer may check for? Hi, I’m Micah Longo, I’m a Florida employment lawyer practicing law here in Davie, Florida.

Hiring a new employee is an important decision. Employers sometimes want to find about about the person’s work history, education, criminal record, financial history, or use of social media.

Employers sometimes do civil litigation checks to examine the litigation attitudes of a prospective employee. Since, civil cases are public record, uncovering litigation history is fairly easy, especially today where most court dockets can be accessed online. The good news is that most employers understand that not all matters litigated have any bearing on a candidates ability to do the job.

Now, anytime an employer uses an employee’s background information to make an employment decision, they must comply with state and federal anti-discrimination laws. This includes discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or disability.

I have a question, I went to take my live screen fingerprints for California Corrections. I'm going, to be honest with you, and would like some advice. In 2013, I applied for a cleaning agency, that agency cleaned the sheriff's buildings. Even though I did not apply through the sheriff's agency, they to took my fingerprints to work there. The problem was that I forgot to mention it on my PHS form, do you think they will find out? They fired me from that job because I wasn't working the way they want me to, but it was 7 years ago.

Can you do the same for California? Do you have any reference?

Some of it is ridiculous. My manager refused to hire my best friend because apparently his work history from 10 years ago didnt mesh with his Resume timeline was. If a company is that petty then F them anyways👍

what happens if you told your potential new employer that you made 100k during the hiring interview but you actually make 95k. If they check for previous salary, do you think this could be a reason for decline? Is there a way to get around it if they question this discrepancy?

Thanks. Now I know more about what employers are looking for when they conduct background checks.

If you are new to Canada, prior records back home don't matter. You are only held to Canadian background records. It is a bias system from a government that preaches non prejudice. Not that I blame anyone for trying to find a new life for themselves or their families, it is the bias of the Canadian Government that has destroyed my life and hate the Canadian Government for.

Why is it important to conduct pre-employment background investigations? Outline
how you would go about doing so.
