Here in Rhode Island there is a 3 year statute of limitations about background checks!! Anything over 3 years can’t be held against you and you could sue for discrimination and slander.

Screw any company that does this, why have people let this become a thing? Why do you give the employer such power?
It's a job not a space mission FFS, remember employers need employees as much as employees need employers, stop feeding into the idea employers are all powerful.

Why make an offer before the background check? That's stupid.

Any company that rescinds an offer based on a job title or salary discrepancy is not a company I want to work for. In addition, why are they looking at salary at all? That is illegal in some states and highly irrelevant everywhere. I should.be getting the market rate for the job regardless of what my previous salary was. If they believed I had the qualifications to be hired into the role then they can go pound sand about my previous compensation.

A potential employer can not ask what your salary was. Your previous employer can only divulge that you worked there and the time periods. That is all.

I had an offer years ago for an entry level on job training and I put I graduated high school. Even though I knew the job required a diploma I still went for it hoping the don’t look into it. Welp got an offer and they ran an educational verification check on me but I never responded back lol. They used Checker to run it and heard it will pass if you put the name of high school but didn’t put year you were awarded?

What happens if it’s some crappy volunteer job? I worked a lot of volunteer jobs when I was a college student and post college. It was the only way for me to gain any kind of “industry experience;” however, I feel it’s detrimental due to these background checks becoming a factor.
