I have an Asus gaming laptop, so the Steam Deck is perfect for playing most of my games (just played on PS5, so my Steam library was basically started from scratch) and I can just stream the games through my laptop for better power. The Oled screen with HDR is so much nicer and the Deck with touch pads is amazing (especiallys since I can easily change the controls per game and the pads open up more control over the games).

Deck oled hands down. I’ve had the ally and while the performance is nice, the deck and its operating system is way more user friendly. The oled screen and performance truly is worth it over the ally.

I started with the Steam deck at launch. Then moved to the Ally, and the Legion Go after that. I just bought an OLED Steam Deck and I'm blown away at how awesome it is. The longer battery life, quiet fan, pick up and play ability, and of course the beautiful screen make it the all around best handheld imo. I got tired of dealing with Windows and how long it took to actually get in the game that I'd rather just fire up my desktop. If Valve releases Steam OS for everyone else, I may change my opinion. But for now it's Steam Deck OLED all the way!

Having a roag ally v1 now. Not upgrading to ally X. But if Rog release another upgrade with OLED then that's a definite buy!

This is good because once the ally x releases the ally will decrease in price on second hand markets

nice video mate, well put together and very clear the ups and downs of each device. i tend to lean towards the oled over the ally these days but do have an Ally X on order. Ill stick by what i said before, i would buy a steam deck 2 in a heartbeat but i would need to wait for reviews of an Ally 2 such is the nature of Asus as a company... with the Ally X though we all pretty much know what we are getting which is an Ally with the improvements it really needed so its easy to know even before reviews if its for you or not and i always wanted an Ally with a battery that can handle it and better sticks and d-pad so im looking forward to it. Lets hope this time around its built to the standards we expect.

My go too, does it have good support? can I fix my self if I can buy the parts with out mailing it in. Will last alot longer when i take it on the road when their is not outlet or no time to have it plug it in. The last part can I put any game to sleep with out little and no problem so I can pick it up later.

Hi Pete - Great video, and loved the Pancake interlude 😸 Quick question, and hopefully not a silly one - I have zero experience with PC gaming as always favoured consoles, but I am very interested in getting a Steam Deck OLED, as really like the idea of playing games available via Steam on-the-go/portably. Is this something I can basically just pick up and play, or will I need to do a lot of tinkering around in settings etc (where I don’t think I’d know what I’m doing) to get the best out of it? Thanks in advance 👍

I think one important thing everyone is forgetting to mention is that the steam deck oled isn't as accessible to get as the other handhelds where you can purchase from a lot of stores and online stores.

Deck is best for older games and ally for gamepass/new games

Using a pluged in device in a hot tub seems like a risky decision 😂
Fantastic video thanks, Subbed 👍

Ally: a handheld mini pc with a screen and gamepad, Can play steam and other launchers with access to 99% of games that run on windows. you can switch to linux if you dont feel like windows is for you. Very good for tinkerers and tech savy windows users

Steamdeck: a handheld pc console with a screen and gamepad for steam with limitations to anticheat and demanding games, less power and feels like you have to have a general knowledge in coding to use. And not so great if you decide you want to switch to windows

Quite simple: If wanna play newer games: ROG ALLY
If emulation and Indie: Steam deck!

Steam deck can not handle new AAA games. So battery is not in question here.

Don't buy Eva buy the legion go :) that's the king daddy in this game

This comparison is a little ill timed. The comparison should really be the Steam deck oled vs the rog ally X

Ally could be cool but the battery is just so terrible.
