I bought the Ally X a week and a half ago it was my first handheld pc and yesterday I returned it. It was terrible, armory crate and the command center kept glitching, it was always freezing overall just a terrible experience. I actually ordered the Steam Deck 1TB OLED today which I honestly should’ve done from the beginning

Personally I want the power and performance and battery life, I can do all the things i would wanna do easier on the ally x

I hate these kind of videos. It going to vary from user to user. If you use game pass or have a lot of games that won't play on Linux, rog ally x. If all your games are on stream, get the steam deck.

Sold my Steam Deck and got the Ally X.
Performance is so much better now, not having to butcher the graphics as much anymore, to get higher framerates. Dualboot with Windows and Steam OS is best of both worlds. I just didn't want to stay locked to Steam, and having to mess with games that didn't work properly (or at all) on the Deck. And I love having VRR on this thing.

You're compatibility point is a little silly, if you've actually been using the steam deck you should know there are an incredible number of ways to install things on the Steam deck, and even more recently we've gotten the non-steam game launcher plug-in so you don't even have to do any desktop mode tweaking to get these launchers running. The literal only thing that I haven't been able to get going on Steam deck so far is installing games from game pass.... I can play them on cloud gaming however and I can stream from my Xbox and my PS, and every pc-based launcher out there works perfectly on the steam deck as well as all of the games for them. Compatibility rating for the steam deck on its games is BS, and most "partially compatible" games work perfectly

Until it has trackpads its pointless, at least for me...

I play a lot of older games, that only work well on steam deck because of the trackpads.
3ds emulation.
Any sims game.
RTS games as a whole.
And many more older games, if the rog Ally x had oled and trackpads i might generally consider it.

I have both. Use the oled more. Rog x sits on my desk. Haven’t found a game I can’t play on the deck. Ps5 for cod.

The steam deck OLED he has is the limited edition one. That one sells for 800 plus which is not worth considering the performance compared to the ally x

I have both and prefer the oled unless I need gamepass or more power.

I personally like playing older gen games or even newer indie games on a handheld. If there’s a new AAA game release I’m most likely gonna go with a console experience. I think for majority of people the Steamdeck OLED is the better choice. Save the 250 bucks

If you already have a relatively powerful pc, i'd recommend just getting the steam deck oled. You get the better screen but you can also make up for the lag in performance by streaming from your pc with Moonlight

Remember that soon the ALLYX will potentially run steam OS resulting in a more powerful deck. Bazzite works well currently so it’s a nice in between with dual boot.

I currently have the SD LCD version and LOVE it, but am looking to upgrade. Should I keep my existing SD and just pick up the ALLY X? Or get the OLED version SD?

Ally X with Bazzite and Windows definitely out beats a Steam Deck people who say otherwise are just ignorant
