House Dayne is so mystical. They have very intriguing origins, producing both the best swordsman and the most beautiful woman of Robert's rebellion

House Dayne had been my personal favorite. You can be a noble, a Lord, a king, a dragon rider even by birth but still not worthy to carry the title " Sword of the Morning". 🗡️

Had no idea how rare it was for a man of house dayne to wield the sword, I had assumed it was similar to a valerian steel sword just passed on to elder son generation by generation, that makes it so much cooler imo

Ned Stark could've stolen Dawn, but being as honourable as he is he went out of his way to go further south and restore the sword to its rightful owners. House Dayne has a positive opinion of Ned Stark, despite him being the one who killed Ser Arthur Dayne.

I'd Take Dawn over any other sword any day, It looks absolutely beautiful.

It exceeds the Valaryan steel..

It is speculated that similar meteor also hit essos 10000 yrs ago, and the sword made from it was Lightwilder the Sword Carried by Azor Hai who ended the first Winter.
The valaryans performed blood magic to replicate that sword, thus Valaryan steel was made.

Dawn is perhaps the only sword of Westerosi origin that rivals Valyrian blade when it comes to strength and sharpness. Truly an exceptional weapon worthy of a champion.

I would love a series about a Sword in the Morning. Could be about Davos, or Arthur or someone we’ve never before, anyone will do. I’m just so curious how you are tested to be worthy. Like does the Sword pick you like a Harry Potter Wand? Or does a Council of Daynes deem you worthy?

I hope the sword and its weilder become integral parts of the story later on cause hoise Dayne just got stuff going on that seems cool af

My bet is Azor Ahai was their founder and the Dawn is magical sword that ended the last Night King

I haven't read the books but I am sure readers love Ser Arthur Dayne's actor and his moves in the show. Damnn, Achilles vs Hector and Arthur Dayne vs Ned Stark and Co, are two of the best mediaeval fights for me.

Ser Aidan Dayne, who married a cold-hearted woman from House Ryswell and fought valiantly against the Dragonknight, another notable recipient of the title.

I would love to see Sir Arthur vs the smiling Knight!

So... how does that work? The Sword "lays dormant" gives me a vibe of sentience or magic to it. Like, how does it chose people?

If I were part of a house in Westeros, then House Dayne. Not for the Sword of the Morning thing, though I'd try, but cause it's a House in Dorne, pretty far removed from all the other bullshit that is going on on the continent.

Did the writers forget about the sword in the show during the tower of joy scene

It would’ve been so badass if D&D wrote Young Griff into the series around the end of S2 beginning of S3, showing him back in Dorne trying to unite Dorne along with the Golden Company to take back the Iron Throne as he thinks he’s a Targaryen. Thus recruiting House Dayne where they deem him worthy to use Dawn even though he’s not a Dayne, but for being worthy and for being Rhaegars Son, who Arthur Dayne was close too. Would’ve made for some great battles and seeing another Great Sword of Westeros. The meetup between Dany, Jon, and Young Griff eventually would’ve made for some great scenes. Young Griff would join Dany and Jon against the Night King after taking back the Iron Throne first. Night King should’ve always been the Big Bad. Then last episode should’ve been the rebuild of Westeros with Dany, Jon, or Young Griff as the Ruler and the bittersweet ending that George said there would be.

I wonder how it would have stacked up against white walkers.
