Didn't find what I was looking for. In my cellphone I can see the cast icon, press on it and it start the "connection" but never actually cast to my TV. I'll ready restarted, rebooted AND factory reset the chromcast. Nothing helped. Any tips o advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

The home app can't see my device...

Strangely my 3 gen Chromecast works fine, but my new google tv chromecast cannot stream movies from vlc on my mac. I swapped back to the 3rd gen and that still works perfectly. Why is that?

I have had mine with Google TV for about 2 years and sometimes the entire screen will be colored in green. Everything is there and it's connected to my wifi but everything is tinted in green. I have no idea why. I unplug the device and plug it back in and sometimes it's still green and sometimes it's fixed. Do you have any idea why it would be doing that? Also I can't keep my soundbar connected even when I turn the TV on and off. The soundbar is LG and so is my TV.

This really did work, and I gained additional functionality with the Tablo as well. Now, things appear to be seamlessly working.

And, thanks for the Ethernet connection info; I had no idea, and will be getting one on the off-chance I'll need it later.

Any idea if it is just the wireless capability that gets hosed? Stated another way, is it possible that hard wiring will solve/reduce the occurrence that it's all hosed up? Because it takes about 15-20 minutes (sometimes) to reboot both the local appliances as well as the internet connection (dedicated wireless via central tower). If I can avoid all that time (especially if the spouse has requested we watch something), it would be wonderful!

I just installed my 3rd ChromeCast HD at home on a living room TV & I notice that when I go to Settings & Pull up my Google Account logged into the ChromeCast where my Account Picture is ….It does NOT Show my Name & in Various Settings like selecting (About) to see if my Unit is up to date …
it won’t show me the Full Message on Screen ….it shows a message with Missing Letters ….What’s going on & how do I Fix this Issue ??? Please Help …my Signal Strength is Excellent & No Issues with being connected to Home Wifi or Streaming on TV from this Device ??? Thanks for Ur Help

Not working suddenly it shows this. Can't see Basement TV on this Wi-Fi network. Check that it's online and that your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. But same wifi
