Chromecast Not Showing? Common Issues and Ways to Fix (No Cast Icon)

If you're missing the Cast Icon on your Phone then go through these troubleshooting steps to fix the Chromecast issue. This can often happen when you're trying to watch Netflix, Youtube, Disney+ or Prime Video on your TV. This will work on all brands of TV's (Samsung, LG, Sony. TCL, Vizio, Hisense etc) as it's usually down to the chromecast device having the issue and not the TV. The YouTube app doesn’t find the chrome cast, but the Netflix app does. Same phone, same network. It seems like the YouTube app isn’t the most reliable anymore.

All my other apps show the cast icon and cast perfectly fine but Netflix just won’t. It won’t even show up. I’ve tried every option you listed but I’m desperate at this point

Is the following step missing from the instructions?
On your iOS device’s home screen, tap Settings.
Tap Privacy Local Network. You’ll find a list of apps.
Turn on Local Network Access for the app(s) you would like to cast from. This will allow permissions for Cast to discover local devices when casting

Any idea on how to deal with using my Chromecast on a hotel TV without my remote? I’m on vacation, brought my chromecast but I forgot the remote. And I can’t seem to use my iPhone as a remote (using google home or similar) because when I plug my chromecast into the tv, the chromecast isn’t connected to Wi-Fi yet so it can’t show itself. I’d prefer to not “hard reset” my chromecast cause then I’d lose the apps I’ve set up on it. THANKS 🙏🏼 🎉

Strange part is I am able to see cast icon and Chromecast name on YouTube app but not on other apps

I just upgraded from iPhone 12 to iPhone iPhone 14 Pro and my phone no longer finds Chromecast but ONLY for the Disney+ app. Prime, Paramount and YouTube are all fine. Is this a Disney issue or an iPhone issue? I don’t know who to contact.

I can cast with my phone EVERYTHING YouTube Tubi everything.. except rumble. I can cast from my tablet no problem. On my phone I try to cast rumble and it comes off the screen saver on my TV like it's going to cast but the TV screen is dark with the cast icon in the center of my TV ... if you can help me I'd certainly appreciate it.. thank you

Tried all but nothing works. Apps with build-in cast icon work fine but i have another streaming app that normally uses the pop-up cast icon but it just won't appear on my new android go edition phone :(

When I see video of YouTube on my TV by my phone, at my phone display doesn't show the icon up and left that shows YouTube icon that I'm connected with tv.why??

I moved! I could cast easily from my last home. Now, my chromebook does not have a cast icon on youtube. I can cast from my android phone. When I search "cast" it says no devices. TV and chromebook are on the same network. Please help.

I try to connect for the pass 3 days. All this time, just found out it was just the WIRE that connects to the Chromecast. 😜

Tbh I actually find the reverse. YouTube is the *worst* at finding it. It offers me all kinds of other options - even a TV which I no longer possess - but not the one I want. This is despite the Google Home app picking it up, and often other apps picking it up too.
