Does Baptism have the power to save? Or, is it merely a sign that has no effective power. What does the Bible have to say about this? Check out this video with Dr. Brant Pitre to learn more.

I would say that many Protestant denominations would be in complete agreement with what you say on this video, I. Particularly Lutherans and also anglicans. Other denominations that practice infant baptism like Calvinists and Methodists would agree at least in part with what is taught in this video, if not in its totality.

My question is, so should we look at the flood as baptism and it actually saved Noah vs the flood destroyed the earth

What about the explanation of whether, when and how Jesus descended into hell?

so i have a Question maybe some People can help me out with this. it is said, that to see the kingdom of god, we must be born again in water and in spirit (John 3:5). but we also read in Ephesians 5:26, that we can be cleansed through the waterbath of the word. so is baptism really needed for salvation because --->
i got born again at the beginning of 2018, it was in one Moment when i watched a documentary about flat earth and occultism and the reign of satan on this world, in one Moment, everything was so twinkling clear to me, it was one moment, i will never ever forget, after this moment, i took sin seriously i knew about the reality of hell and heaven, for me it was one born again moment of my spirit, of my consciousness, for sure. then in 2020 in the summer, i got baptised in the Name of the Father, the Son and the holy Spirit, in the Name of Jesus Christ, i could not recognize any feeling, any revelation, any change after that baptism, shortly after i came up from the water, nor days after. it just felt like one physicall action to me. so why is that ? is it because i was baptised as a baby in a catholic church first ? what is with people who never got baptised, like the thief who was next to Jesus on the Cross of calvary ? i am a bit confused, still i sinned in the flesh here and there, after this moment in 2018 and after this moment in 2020, but no worries it gets better and better every Year with me ! so yeah... i was just wondering why i did not feel any big change in myself or my behaviour, after my baptism in 2020. doesn´t salvation has to do with god pulling people to his son and transforming their heart to the image of Jesus, isn´t it more a supernatural move of god, than any outward sacrament ? thank you !

Catholic Production; Those who believe that baptism is required for salvation are quick to use 1 Peter 3:21 as a “proof text, ” because it states “baptism now saves you.” Was Peter really saying that the act of being baptized is what saves us? If he were, he would be contradicting many other passages of Scripture that clearly show people being saved (as evidenced by their receiving the Holy Spirit) prior to being baptized or without being baptized at all.
A good example of someone who was saved before being baptized is Cornelius and his household in Acts 10. We know that they were saved before being baptized because they had received the Holy Spirit, which is the evidence of salvation (Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13; 1 John 3:24). The evidence of their salvation was the reason Peter allowed them to be baptized. Countless passages of Scripture clearly teach that salvation comes when one believes in the gospel, at which time he or she is sealed “in Christ with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13). Any comments please, thank you.

but you said "protestant brothers and sisters!!" how can u call them brothers and sisters and they deny the eucharist and mary's assumption to heaven and deny her immaculate heart of conception!?

Yes but Jesus said you must be baptized by both water AND spirit. In Acts 8 the Samarians had been water baptized but not yet by the spirit. because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:16‭-‬17

So are you saved if you've only received a water baptism? Like Simon the Sorcerer?

Dr. Pitre, I always listen to you with interest and have learned much, for which I'm grateful, but I was sad and desapointed when heard you joking that no one cares to read the papal enciclicles. I am writing to you from Fatima, where I live, and here I stay praying for you and for all who listen to you and take you as their spiritual mentor. I'm sorry for you because Pope Francis is our guide, the guide that the Holy Spirit appointed and prepared to the Church in this times we are living. Are you ready to debate God's decision in such an important and clear matter? Don't you obey the Spirit? How can you obey if you stand on such high a cathedra that you joke you do not read what the Pope teaches?
Please reconsider. Please do. Pray, reconsider.

if baptism saves, why is Saint Paul treating it as secondary and not nearly as important?

1 Corinthians 1:17 NKJV
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

If you were a true child of God, you would know this.

1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

So in Saint Pauls own words, if the message of the cross doesn’t save but baptism does then the message of the cross is foolishness to you because you’re perishing.

The power is not in baptism. The power is in the Holy Spirit.

baptism + faith = salvation. Okay, I got it. The penitent thief on the cross must have been splashed in the face with water before he died. Okay, got it. Or, maybe he wasn't saved.
