Tom, I work for a State agency and have position interview for Coordinator. position.. Been a few years since I've had to get this technical and use Excel again, my current position at the agency, I use Excel but not that much so, I'm very rusty! Downloaded the file and followed along. Awesome video and instruction compared to other video of the same nature! Been a bit tough following along going from the 2010 version to the 2019 version. Still can't find the Header and Footer function in the new version other than use the search, which I did.

I did miss the 3rd instruction on the 2nd page of instructions and going back watching the video and following along, great point! I'll have to take my time and make sure I read the question/instructions correctly.

These gov't job interviews are tricky. as it goes by seniority most of the time (which sucks as that is how we end up with ignorant people for the position in these higher level positions), except where positions like the one I'm applying for have a higher pay scale. There are always suspect loopholes and it is a bit of the "Good Ole Boys Club", if you follow what I mean. The Contract allows Mgt. to "test" and they have a way around picking who they want. I.E. say there are 4 of us and they want you as they know you have a degree in business. So, that is added to the minimum qualifications or tailor the posting to your qualifications. In the Contract, it prohibits "Pre-Positioning", which that is a form of it. Second, they use testing and I was told there is going to be an Excel exam. This tells me that "IF" they have someone in mind already, they are probably pretty efficient in Excel. How they score is super secret squirrel intelligence and they can "recalculate" up to 10 times. By what factors and numbers do they use? Good question! LOL Say I have more seniority than you, and they "want" you, this is where the factoring comes into play to get scoring values beyond 10%, otherwise if we are within 10% score wise, it automatically goes to me. On the flip side, say they want me and you beat better than say 30 points, again, this is where this "factoring" comes into play to get us to be within 10% of each other and then it automatically goes to me per the Contract because I have more seniority. Is the process a bit shady, unfair and suspect? Yeah! This "factoring" is not list in the Contract. Just states Mgt. has the right to test. Not sure of what is going to be on this Excel assessment exam. God only knows and hopefully nothing super advanced, or I am screwed! LOL That's gov't for ya though! If you are not using it daily, then you lose it and get dumbed down. Plus, with gov't agencies, they're always adding and deleting stuff, trying out this software, product, technique, or application and scraping others! Finger crossed!

Anywho, aside from the above thanks for a great first part! Your video includes a lot, lot more than others and is a great overall refresher!! On to Part Two!

hello - i hope all is well - quick question - i see that you have a playlist of 46 videos covering excel 2010 - is that geared toward passing this excel test? meaning if an excel beginner did those 46 videos and then took the test, would they have all the info needed to ace this test? - thank you - stay safe
