It is actually a bug that clicking render in the Maya render view does a sequence. This will be fixed in a future release. To render a sequence users should use "Render Sequence" or "Batch Render".

if you want to render these on a separate machine, does the other box need a Maya license or Arnold License?

I will keep saying it. You are auto desk ( multi-billion dollar company) you need to have a better mic to have better sound quality, you need to also de-es your audio. Everyday youtubers have better audio that this. Sound matters, the constantly whistling on every sentence is painful to listen to after about 1 - 2 min. It is a pity, as I can hear the videos are good, but just can't sit through them. It is such a easy fix, a quality USB mic, a screener for the mic, and a little post audio de-esser to adjust anything the screener and a little distance from the mic did not fix.
