Time has a speed limit, space does not.

Someone said „the speed of light is the speed limit for things moving through space. Space itself can do whatever the hell it wants.“

you don't go faster than speed of light

you go to a shortcut to go there faster

ripping space time sounds like a wonderful idea that will have no negative side effects

Correction: you would travel a greater DISTANCE in a shorter time, but you would not be going at a speed faster than light

We destroying the universe with this one 😂

Frankly, I used to be petrified by the thought of the inconceivable scale of the universe. But as I get older and sit with these concepts, the more I’ve made peace with it.

There’s so much about the Universe that we just simply do not understand that it leaves a lot for the imagination. If nothing else, I take comfort in being part of this system that is infinitely larger than me yet all seemingly connected (albeit through extremely vast distances.) From star dust to star dust.

Ahh yes, let me just rip the fabric of space to appear on the toilet upstairs because im too lazy to walk up the stairs

This theory was posited in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, it posited if space was a fabric, then you could rip open a small part of that fabric, exposing a thread and ride that thread to cross great distances, even to other galaxies. The Series Andromeda was constructed around the general theory of relativity, and the method of travel was called the Slipstream Drive.

Star trek was constructed around the Special theory of relativity, It posited that a static bubble of normal space could be generated around a vessel while warping space around the ship, this theory stated that the ship was not actually moving but space was moving around it, hence not breaking the special rule of relativity.

Gene Roddenberry was way ahead of his time, creating 2 shows based on both theories of relativity.

Kaku is brilliant love the man he doesnt look at shit negatively always optimistic about how we can beat the system.

So basically you don't actually move the object just the space around it, kinda like folding paper and punching a hole through it, allowing you to travel from one end to the other

I swear I wish I could live for 500 years to see how far we will advance from where we are now. I mean think about where we were 500 years ago and how far is technology is gone now imagine where we would be in 500 years from now🤯🤯

Only when mass is interacting with the space around it. What if you could separate the craft from the space around it like a bubble?

There's also just available information.

During any given time period there's always something considered impossible due to the available information until it's eventually proven not to be.

You can't go faster then light, trough space, but by the universe expanding or space time ripping/bending, you can travel relative to something a faster or a larger distance then light

I think the story of Icarus gets forgotten more and more every passing year

If you could turn energy or subatomic particles for that matter into a state of matter without it actually having mass with a form of compression (this could be possible), then it might have properties of a solid, therefore yes, an object with mass shouldn’t really be able to travel past the speed of light, but for us humans to create a vehicle to travel past the speed of light, who said it had to contain mass?
