Understanding Allergies: Symptoms and Types Explained

In this video, Simon and Dr Helen from Anaphylaxis UK explains how to identify if a child has an allergy. An allergy is an abnormal immune system response to an otherwise harmless substance, and there are two broad types: IGE and non-IGE allergies. The former produces more obvious symptoms such as hives, swelling, and anaphylaxis within minutes to an hour after exposure to the allergen, whereas the latter has a slower onset and gut-related symptoms such as reflux, vomiting, and tummy pain.
