Re "biscoti quickly became favorites of the Roman legion" @ 1:50 - not unless time travel was involved.

If as the vid notes biscoti were first devolped in the 14th century, then that would've been almost a thousand years after the fall of the Roman Empire and the last Roman legions.

Real (and usually homemade) Snickerdoodles are my favorite! Ever since we did a baking class in 2nd/3rd grade and a classmate introduced me them, I've been obssesed. But my usual go to is the chocolate chip cookie with milk. And when it's Girl Scout Season, thin mints and shortbread~ :D

I also love when we can grab them, these Guatemalan style cookies that I guess might be shortbread like? They're big and thin and has like a sprinkle of seeds on top. They're great to dunk in coffee or tea with. But I don't know the name.

Tahini, buckwheat flour, muscovado sugar, chopped chocolate, salt.
Combine, roll into logs, wrap securely and freeze till you're craving a cookie.

These cookies don't need to be baked and taste like the 'cookie dough' in icecream when eaten raw. Can be baked though, I tend to eyeball them in the oven and take them out when the top is slightly browned and they smell incredible. They will be really crumbly once baked and good as a topping on other deserts (like roast banana- so good on roast banana!).

I still make my Mum’s Burnt Butter Biscuits (in Australia), with crystallised ginger in the centre - mmm so good!

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES MENTION WOO HOO!! Thin Mints and Taglongs are the best ones don't @ me tbh. I sold so many of all the staples and the rotating selections in my 1st-12th grade years too! and will happily buy my own supply when I swing by my local grocery stores to support the local girl scout troops. ^^-

Outside of those though, every Christmas, my family makes what we call Chow Mein cookies. they're a type of no bake cookie where you mix a pack of butterscotch chips, a jar of peanut butter, and the crunchy chow mein "noodles" and drop them onto wax paper and top with a red or green M&M (M side down), then store in the freezer to set. they are delicious but very rich so I can't eat more than 2 at a time. probably better for me in the long run, lol!

(and if anyone is interested, I can look up exact numbers for the ingredients bc I do not have those memorized, just what size the packages look like when I get them in the store. ^^; )

The next time someone says my family's softer, denser, almost-brownie-consistiency gingerbread cookies are weird, I'm telling them they're more historically accurate 😂
I really should have guessed that a cookie with so many spices was influenced by its location on the spice trade, though!
