Hurricane Milton is continuing to "rapidly intensify" as it continues its track toward Florida and is now a major storm, according to national hurricane forecasters.

Milton came on the scene on Saturday as a tropical storm. Now, as a Category 3 hurricane, the storm is a major hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said.

Florida could see impacts beginning Tuesday evening into Wednesday.

"Further strengthening is expected, and Milton is forecast to become an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane later today and maintain that intensity for the next couple of days." the NHC said.

I would bet that the cone will head closer towards the east coast of NC than what they are saying.

These reports are based on the data they have at this time. It does help to have the early warnings so we can be prepared.
Charlie wobbled near the coast, all week they were saying Tampa when I was in Port Charlotte. Somethings can't be predicted. Just be ready

These news folks is a thorn … they make it seem it’s not a big deal and the storms end up being devastating…

Florida should be turned into a massive nature reserve and everyone should just move out.

Why would the hurricane loose power once it passes florida? I just checked, and it looks like the ocean temperature is still pretty high, which should fuel the storm. Should the rest of the east coast be worried this'll intensify and go up the coast?

"better agreement" The fricken cone is still 300 miles wide. No idea on storm surge. You have no clue
