How to enable (deploy) nested virtualization in VMware ESXi

Explanation of how you can enable nested virtualization in VMware ESXi 7. This is a useful feature for lab environments as well as in some production testing environments. It allows you to run Type 2 Hypervisors within another Type 1 or Type 2 Hypervisor-hosted virtual machine. This is required to install WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) as well.

As of Feb 12, 2024, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (free edition) is no longer available as VMware has been bought by Broadcom. This is unfortunate for home labbers as well as for students. However, Proxmox Virtual Environment is a complete, open-source alternative option for Type 1 Hypervisor. I am planning to create tutorials on Proxmox Virtual Environment in the near future. When i check box vitualize intel VT-x/ept or AMD then i can't start vmware workstation but if unchecked I will be able to run it, but when I create a vm in vmware esxi I can't run it. It says it doesn't support vt-x.
