"My blood group is not the same as my kids" - is a question that many Dads wonder about and sometimes can wreck a family when actively pursued.

But is checking blood group the best way to determine if you are really the kids' father?

In this video, we explain why a dad can have a different blood group from his kids and still be their dad.

We cover a little aspect of the ABO blood group system, which is the classification of relevance here, but it is a little more complex than what is described here.

We also look at the Rhesus group classification to establish how inheritance could happen - but essentially it is important for people to understand that the blood group alone does not imply biological relationship and paternity.

01.27 - The enquiry is a man who is A+ has children who are all O+ with his O+ partner - are they really his children??

My sisters doctor told her she has a rare blood type O- . He also told her one of her parents has to have her same blood type O-. Well our mom had B+ and our Dad has B+. Now my Dad is asking for a DNA test done because he thinks my sister is not his kid. Not sure if her doctor was wrong or not? This news has caused lots of anger...tears and fears between my sister and our dad. Sadly our mom passed away years ago... Our dad also suspected our mom was being unfaithful to him before my sister was born. I have B+ blood type... thanks for your help...
