It's your TV, make it work for you and not the other way around!
How to disable the constant auto-switching, auto-sensing HDMI ports from an off state:
Mute / Volume down / Channel down / Mute / Power on

You can purchase the remote control I used in this video for less than $7.00 to your door from Amazon. Here is a direct link to the one I purchased:

Your problem should now be solved. Don't be afraid to say thank you, but you are always welcome! Subscribe with bells and that jazz if ya like, and thanks for watchin! 😃

Thanks. Not actually tried this yet, but I'll give it a shot. I regularly plug in different devices for testing and seeing the "scanning for devices" screen instead of displaying what the device does when first powered on does my head in!

Please Samsung, just because a TV is 'smart' does not mean the user is dumb.

Still works today and I was able to use the stock remote. Thanks for the video. My PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nvidia Shield, and Wii can now live in harmony on the same HDMI switch.

You posted this years ago. But it helped me today. Dear God, did it help me. Thank you.

Just an update: you can use the Samsung remote that came with it. You have to click down on the volume button to hit mute.

I followed these instructions using the original remote and it worked.

You are so right. Mine's a UK Q80 and I HATE it. I'll NEVER buy another Samsung. I only got it as we have Freesat TV in the UK and my old Panasonic (TX-L47DT50 2012 TV) needed replacing but Panny don't do Freesat (TM) any longer. The Samsung tries to take over every time I switch it on, trying to recnfigure everything. What's worse is, it locks out the remote control until it thinks it have everything how it wants, which is NOT how I want it.
Oh, the sound is decent and the pictures are reasonable if a little over processed but give me a Panny TX-55FX750 any day.
You buy a Samsung at your own peril is my view now.

And general comment, welcome to an early glimpse of our future, “artificial stupidity” where computers assume what you want and won’t let you get what you really want. 😂

Wow, this is incredibly helpful. I use a lytmi box for ambient lighting which consolidates devices onto one hdmi port and the auto detect source is incredibly annoying and would sometimes mess with the box's ability to display. I have been looking for a solution to this problem and have only managed to find it through your video. I don't know how you did it but great work figuring out this code. Like others I managed to do it with the stock remote and could not be happier

yes, this was driving me nuts. How did you figure this out?

Somehow it worked with the OEM remote, while the TV was on. I was just about to chuck this darn thing out the window too, so many hours wasted trying to find a solution...

I work in computer hardware development and I love tech, BUT, it really pisses me off when I see companies using tech incorrectly and in very stupid ways! So frustrating.

OMG it worked thank you thank you
Got a new Samsung tv last week and hated that my PS4 would turn on just by turning on the TV but now now sitting here following directions and it worked thanks again

Thank you! I swear, the "smarter" they make electronics the less usable they become. I just bought a brand new Samsung and it will be the last. I just want to use my television, not have it waste my time being "smart".

Thank you for the tip. On my two Samsung televisions the sequence of commands worked but I did the sequence with the television on, at the end of the sequence the television was turned off and when I turned it on again the hdmi autosensor was off. Hugs from Brazil.

Thank you! This has been drivin’ me nuts. I recently got a OneXPlayer and every time I’d plug it into the TV, well, ya know. :P
