Golf 7 GTI vs. Golf 7 GTD - 0-220 km/h acceleration (1080p)

Autobahn acceleration comparison between the 2014 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI (220 petrol hp, 350Nm) and the 2014 VW Golf 7 GTD (184 Diesel hp, 380Nm). While the MK7 GTI has the dual clutch DSG transmission, the GTD "only" has the manual transmission, probably giving an advantage of 0,5 sec. to 100 and 2,0 sec. to 200 km/h for the GTI. Both cars had 4 doors and ran on 225/40 R18 tires. To me the outcome was not really surprising as the GTI felt very very quick when I drove it, still the GTD engine being more punchy in the mid rpms. Those speedometer comparisons are only meant to show a rough estimate on how these cars will perform in real life. Many factors as wind speed and temperature of course are affecting the outcome of this video. Bin selbst GTD Fahrer und kann von den Fahrwerten her nicht meckern. Allerdings ist im Video schon ein bischen unfair, dass der GTI DSG hat und der GTD Schalter ist.

And..what u guys are forgetting is gear ratio..GTI TCR with 290 HP is still 0.7 sec slower from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) than golf R with 300HP..but yet AUDI s3 is 0.3 sec faster than Golf R-same horse power, golf a little bit lighter..Gear Ratio, people..I have Golf 5 GTI tunned 260Hp, my sister has MK7 GTD tuned to 236HP..one thing I hate about diesel is to changing gears so early..but when it comes to 4th gear it just flies over me..😊

guys if you want a fuel efficient car take the gtd its a fun car with a punch of hp but if you want a real all around car take the gti i love the gti but you cant go wrong with your choice

Also wenn ich mir die Fahrwerte von den 7er GTI´s anschaue, scheint es ja riesen Streuungen zu geben, der eine geht wie 250 PS, der andere wien 5er GTI....Was zeigen den eure Leistungsmessungen?

tja die 220 hat der GTD auf dem Video ja nicht mal erreicht und dann reden sich manche trotzdem schön wie gut der mit dem GTI mithält, und mit dem Verbrauchsargument braucht man mittlerweile nun wirklich nicht mehr kommen. 
Das was man mit diesem subventionierten Dieselsprit beim tanken einspart kann man sich bei den heutigen Motoren eh gleich in ein Sparschwein werfen dafür wenn mal wieder der Partikelfilter, Luftmassenmesser oder Einspritzinjektoren fällig sind.

Das geht ja erwartungsgemäß klar zugunsten des GTI aus.
Natürlich ist der Vergleich mit unterschiedlichen PS zahlen unfair, aber ich glaube der GTI würde auch gegen einen 220 PS GTD knapp gewinnen, also zumindest was die Beschleunigung angeht.

Pointless test. GTD and GTi are different cars with 40/45bhp more in the GTi and lighter engine.

And dont even start about diesel winning the lemans24 races, they win it cause they dont need to refuel as much as a petrol(REAL)racecar

On a short race, the dieselcars would be far behind petrol cars at the finish line.

Also so enorm finde ich den Unterschied nicht, wenn man bedenkt wie viel der Diesel einspart isses das allemal Wert. Da bleibt für mich die Frage warum man sich einen kleinen Sportwagen kauft, wenn man dann auf die Spritpreise schauen muss...

Unfair... GTI has quick automatic gearbox and 45bhp more. Total pointless test. Remap diesel to 220bhp. Then try it again!
