The VR engines got some big thermal problems because of that construction.
So they over heat often.

Golf 7 Gti: 162kw (169kw with performance pack)
Golf 6 R : 200kw
Obviously the 6R would kill the 7Gti. +-30kw difference is a lot.

Never heard of that.. I've even owned 2 VR6's and 1 R32 (Golf 5).

Only issue (in my experience), was back in the 90'es, where they would shut completely out, if you reved more than 3.5k whilst oil was below 90 Degrees C*

On the golf mk7 the hood has likes that.curves up so the hood looks fugly

Naja das liegt wohl am R Optik gegenüber dem GTI (schlichter).
Warten wir den 7er R ab... dann kann man nochmals vergleichen.

well the gti definitely started before the R, but its not a bad result, it has 50HP less and not all wheel drive like R..
