The DSG (love it or hate it) is a huge performance boost over the manual in Golfs. This is especially true in the Golf R, where the DSG equipped model is absolutely stupid fast from a dig.

GTI Performance 0-60 is 6 secs Clubsport S is 5.8 secs so not a lot in it and Clubsport S doesn't have launch control so is tricky to launch, it requires ESP on which will cut power until at least 3rd gear. Silly drag races are too good for that car, it's all about the corners as the 'ring record confirms.

I'd pick the Up! personally. The vast majority of my driving is around suburbs so the Up! is much more suited to traffic light get ways and weaving through gaps.
