If you’ve been following the case brought against Netflix by Fiona Harvey, also known as ‘The Real Martha’ from the streaming giant’s show Baby Reindeer, you’ll know the last development was that after her much-viewed interview with Piers Morgan she moved forward with a heart-stopping $170m lawsuit. Now the creator and star of the series, Richard Gadd, has finally broken his silence on the dramatically public legal battle. Unsurprisingly, he has come down on Netflix’s side, and called for the entire case to be thrown out.

To analyse what Gadd’s testimony could mean going forward, Piers calls in two experts in their respective fields of US law and pop culture, criminal defence lawyer Mark Geragos and Popcorned Planet's Andy Signore. Mark doesn’t believe the case will actually make it to a court with a jury, while Andy is once again left exclaiming: “Why are you defending her so much, Piers?!”

00:00 - Piers' monologue
01:50 - Mark Geragos reacts to Gadd's response
05:10 - Andy Signore: "I’m shocked you are defending her!"
07:30 - How true is the story?
12:40 - Piers: "There is no evidence she committed a crime"
14:10 - Laura Wray and George Galloway cases
17:14 - Mark Geragos: "I don’t know how we arrived at this point!"
19:50 - How will the case proceed?

Netflix made her look remorseful and a better person than she actually appears to be. She should thank them.

Let’s call on Judge Judy, she’ll sort this out!

I agree with Andy. A person like her should not be rewarded

I think Netflix should have put "inspired by true events" at the start of "Baby Reindeer" and changed Fiona's words/texts/emails instead of quoting her word for word. That may have prevented this whole legal hot mess.

If this woman gets 170 million, just imagine how many people she will hurt with that money. She’s a monster.

Is Piers disgruntled because Richard has not granted him an interview. ?

Let Andy speak! I wish they wouldn’t interrupt him! He’s the only one who talks sense

From a legal standpoint, they never said the woman's name. Which means that she was not legally defamed. Here ends the argument.

“Just bc the person is stalking you it doesn’t mean they’re a criminal” say what?! Is stalking not illegal?

Richard and Netflix have said “Martha” didn't go to jail. Richard has said he didn't press charges because he felt bad for her because of her mental illness. Also after every episode it says some part of the story is fictionalized so I don't understand why Pierce is acting like Richard and Netflix hasn't already cleared this stuff up

The biggest victim in all this will be the general public when our subscriptions go up in price after Netflix signs a massive cheque for Fiona Harvey.

Wasn't convicted of anything but should have been. Those emails are vile.

Stalking leaves people with PTSD. Fiona is a stalker. She shouldn't get a penny.

Piers - “Troller”
Everyone else - “Scary and potentially dangerous stalker”

What i understand is that fiona isnt martha, but she is who the character martha is based on. It says at the end of each episode that its dramatised, Gadd always said that. I also understand that she wasnt convicted because no one pressed charges. It doesnt mean shes not a stalker. Hopefully the 1000s of emails etc come out at trial; to give someone who has clearly been stalking several people over the years millions of pounds is concerning

This is so pathetic. True story, fictional characters so what. It happened to him and we all enjoyed the crazy journey on Netflix. She's a nutter end of. Stop picking on Gadd. He was traumatised.

I don't think you guys should say that she was never convicted just because it did not come out yet. She also said that she did not send him any email, and now all the emails are out..

I really enjoy when you have Andy Signore on your channel

let’s face it, 9 out of 10 voices in Fiona Harvey’s head thinks she’s crazy, the other one is singing.

For those who don't know how the law works, it doesn't matter what you think about the character or who it's supposed to be. Netflix NEVER said the character was Fiona, but Fiona herself.
