The name of the murderer is T.J. Lane. He didn't get the death penalty, he got three life sentences without the possibility of parole. He is in protective custody, meaning he is isolated. He attacked another inmate in court yard resulting in the inmate being hospitalized due to head injuries. He never showed any remorse for his crimes. Apparently he killed three students and one of them was his ex girlfriend's new boyfriend. Seems he did all of this because he felt rejected by the girl. Also his parents got divorced when he was a child and his father was sent to prison due to assault when he was in third grade.

Honestly I don't even know why we have to dissect this because obviously he's a scared little jump because he didn't have enough balls to stand up at people at school to defend himself from getting bullied or being made to feel inadequate. He knows is asshole was going to be obliterated in prison and because he is a kid and has parents he probably is still super fearful of the wrath of the foreboding eyes of a parent who's mad at you and so this is making him highly uncomfortable
