£2699! Amazing to see these bikes getting more affordable. Would you buy it?

As mentioned elsewhere, well done for recognising the entry level as well as more exotic stuff.

Thank for you this excellent review. I was lucky enough to find one on stock. The price has indeed increased but because of a few very good reasons!!:
- it now has the 625 Wh battery!!
- Shorter cranks
- Improved saddle pin

My first reaction was that 2, 7k for a bike is hardly “cheap”. But then I saw the spec, top motor, forks brakes etc. Excellent deal.
This is deffo the way MTB is going.
Just entered my sixties. I don’t think I’m far off boring young kids by telling them that in my day you had to do all the pedalling yourself !

Finally emtb that is well priced, with decent equipment. I refuse to pay motorbike money for a motorised bicycle, I know some will disagree with me but there is no way that £9000 price for some bicycles can be justified, this bike is priced under 3k how much more should it cost with better suspension, bigger wheels and few minor upgrades to make it high end ?
1500 to 2000 max, if anyone charges more they are ripping you off, but it's your money your choice .
I really like what decathlon did here, the only problem for me is the size
I am 1 size too big for this bike I wish there was a bigger size available ,
Otherwise I would have no problem buying this .

Way to go Rob, you nailed it. So used to you getting bikes from the mfgs, then returning them. This is a very straight forward review with no strings attached. A Bosch Gen4 motor at this price point is remarkable for the budget minded riders that can finally pull the trigger on a dream bike for themselves. Hope to see this more from other brands.
Cheers Rob!

Great and honest review of this bike and correct in every way.
For me on canal tracks, bridal trails, some off road and road it is pretty much perfect.

Many many compliments for this video, for your competence and clarity and last but not least, for speaking a comprehensible english (not like some of your mates, e.g the one who crashed at 35 km/h) also for people who are not mother language like me. Greetings from Italy!

I bought a giant monster e mtb for
£2000 it was brand new no dropper post but got it in January 2018
I checked a month later they went back up to £3500 .so if you're looking for an e bike it's best to buy in January they offer some great bargains

Great video Rob.

The question that kept popping up in my head...are the 4/5/6k ebikes twice as good to ride? While they’re very likely better to ride I just can’t see them being twice as good.

I really hope this gives bike manufacturers the nudge they need to price bikes more reasonably now, this bike looks to be a real winner for riders 😁

I have one of these and it's great! Replaced the tires with schwalbe eddy current, converted to tubeless, replaced the grips and installed the new bosch motor firmware. Rides fantastic, only thing would be as mentioned to upgrade the fork as it is a bit harsh, might do that in a year or so. Highly recommended bike.

A really big gap in the market has seemingly developed with a race to the top leaving a huge gulf for savvy companies to exploit.

Looks like a great bike for the right customer with a tried and tested linkage design. Personally at this price point I'd prefer an external battery as it results in a bit lighter bike (especially for Al) with better weight distribution and cheaper to also..could have resulted in a better fork at 2700.
Rob does raise a good point in that you can get some named brands that cost 2X the price with a similar spec.
A good second hand fork would be a consideration as 150/160 gives you an expectation of performance. I'd also keep an eye out for deals on something like some Double Down Minions for this style of bike which occasionally show up in sales... nothing worse than poor tyres and it's often a place were costs are saved. IMO there is less of a need for expensive wheels on an Ebike.. they just need to be strong and cheap not light and expensive and so i'd probably not look at upgrading the wheels... just ride em till they break and buy another cheap set IME.
2700 is still a lot but getting that through accounts when other bikes are often in the family car price range is a bit easier. Just remember running costs can be higher than a normal bike but again your better off down the SLX/GX end Vs XTR/XX1 anyway for Ebikes

Hallelujah, an EMTB the masses can finally afford. Up till now 5k+ bikes have only been attainable for those with plenty of expendable finances. This is a game changer that your average Joe ( or Jane) can stretch to. I expect to see a massive increase in EMTB’s on the trails over the next five years, more people enjoying the outdoors and keeping fit. What is there not to like about this bike. The bigger brands will be forced to rethink their price points if this brand can produce such an amazing high Spec bike for so little money. Bravo Decathlon!

great video. We purchaes an even cheaper e-MTB. Much cheaper. She loves it! Got-it from a retail store. Equipped with Yamaha PW-ST motor, a 520 watt battery, Shimano Alivio 9 speed, 27.5x2.6 kenda tires, and a epixon 120mm fork. The battery sits above the motor, at the downtube/seatube junction. Aluminum frame from...Taiwan. Conservatively priced at $1799. Now that's an affordable E-bike.

Brilliant review. Came across it by shere chance. I'm keeping an eagle eye open here in my Spanish retired life for one of these but at the moment, they're rarer than hen's teeth. I'm currently running an Orange Clockwork conversion with Bafang 750w engine and 48v battery (carrying a spare) and Rocky Yaris 130 on the front, Thudbuster seat post, and it's just not suitable for the really high-altitude rocky terrain in this part of the world. The other thing I liked about your video is that I lived in Leatherhead before I moved out here so I recognise those trails. It was really useful to see a test on terrain that I used to ride myself. Well done.

Fantastic entry level piece but you can slowly improve on a few bits and bobs in the spec, better stoppers in time and the fork would need replacing for me but it could probably wait. I've owned a RS 35 on a budget HT and it wasn't brilliant, stiff enough but damping left a lot to be desired. Hats off to Decathlon, they've delivered with their B'twin stuff on road in the past, we need people like them to push the bigger companies into making ebikes accessible.

Its so good to give bikes like this exposure as it enables a whole bunch of people to get involved in eMTB. Nice one Rob!
