Would Monarchy Work For Russia?

In the past decade HIH Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna has gained an ever higher profile and even many who would not actively support a monarchial restoration have come to the conclusion that such a thing would not be harmful.

Constitutional monarchy is a common framework in western Europe, where monarchs are incapable of doing harm (due to their lack of political power) and can only be a help to the country and people of Russia by bringing stability, continuity, and unity.

In a restored monarchy Czar (or Czarina) would reign while the Prime Minister, democratically elected would rule according to laws made in independent parliament.

👑The Monarchist Channel is exploring the history of monarchies as well as status of monarchism in the World today.

This is a pan-monarchist channel, which means it does not focus on one country or one royal family or one monarchial tradition alone but on the world-wide monarchist cause.

On this channel we will refrain from taking sides in major dynastic disputes, because the hope is to unite monarchists rather than divide them. In France, for example, the monarchist cause has long been bitterly divided between the supporters of the “Legitimists”, “Orleanists” and “Bonapartists”. We don't do that here.

I also invite non-monarchists for a healthy and open-minded debate.

Enjoy the channel and I look forward to speaking to you in the comment section!

I truly do hope the Russian monarchy will come back into power.

I think Russia could be a constitutional monarchy. The only problem I see with this is anyone who studied Russian history would complain about the Tsars they had and ask why did we have the communist revolution in 1917. There could be more problems than this but that's the only one I could think of.

It’s good to have a separate head of state and head of government. It allows people to identify with the nation while not identifying with politicians. It’s better if the head of state is not elected, because otherwise the head of state becomes a politician too

My biggest reason for pro-monarchy is that the person would be led form birth to lead the nation. yet the only problem I see is when they go too far, or serve too long.

I absolutely believe it could work. I am Swedish and I support the Romanov familiy to a 100%. 2 days ago I saw a descendant of Romanov tsars speaking here in Sweden, our king Carl XVI Gustaf. Paul I of Russia is his grandfathers grandmothers grandmothers father. ( The Romanovs also, in turn, have some Swedish roots, through Peter III, descendant of both the Swedish king Karl XI, and grandson of Peter the Great. Yes I believe that Paul I really was the biological son of Peter III, even if Catherine II had 2 or 3 other children who had other biological fathers),

I think I would prefer a constitutional monarchy to a Soviet Union, a Cold War, a morally bankrupt church, a drunk and now an ex KGB bully. Long live the Czar.

There is no way Russian politicians and military would support the monarchy. Politicians will lose power to the Tzar. The military gains nothing switching government.

The problem with the Grand Duchess Maria and her son Grand Prince George is that her grandfather, Grand Prince Kirill(descendants included) is bared from the line of succession to the Russian throne. When he betrayed Nicholas II to the February Revolution and marrying without the consent of the Tsar. The offspring of Prince Andrew Romanov are the senior most heirs to the throne in accordance to the Pauline rules.

Russia has the greatest potential to become a constitutional monarchy, but ironically without the Romanovs on the throne. Only a brand new dynasty could bring about change

1) Only if the monarchy is an absolute monarchy, with foreign policy and geopolitical interests that are decoupled from the western liberal states. Western-style liberal democracy is neither an objective good, nor is it compatible with traditional Russian culture; the same is the case in countries like China, Nepal, etc. A pro-western liberal democratic constitutional monarchy would be a morally better government than what Russia has now, but the Russian people will never accept monarchy in the long term if the restoration of the monarchy is just a vehicle for turning Russia into modern-day Sweden or the Netherlands.

2) In order for any restoration of the monarchy (whether it be in the form of an absolutist traditional tsarist aristocracy or in the form of a pro-western constitutional monarchy) to last in Russia in the long-term, then the entire Russian population and society must be thoroughly re-educated and de-Communized. This “cultural restoration, ” if you will, must be every bit as totalitarian and ferocious as the re-education and de-Nazification of Germany and Austria following World War II, and it must completely reciprocate the Communist “cultural revolution” in Russia and all of its consequences. If this program is not carried out, then the restored monarch will face the same fates as Louis XVIII of France, Charles X of France, Henry V of France, Charles I of Scotland and England, James VII and II of Scotland and England, Mehmed VI of Turkey, Umberto II of Italy, Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, Maximilian I of Mexico, and many other monarchs throughout modern history who tried to accommodate or failed to eliminate liberal or modernist changes to their countries’ political cultures that occurred during periods where the monarchy’s rule was temporarily abolished.

EVERY Lenin statue must be torn down; EVERY place named after a Communist must be renamed; ALL of the social programs that originated in the Soviet or post-Soviet etas - including those GUM department stores - must be completely destroyed (perhaps being replaced, in Bismarckian fashion, by something else that gratifies the masses’ desires); the ENTIRE current system of administrative divisions of the state must be destroyed (and replaced with the old Guberniya system of the Empire, etc); ALL military rituals that originate from the Soviet and post-Soviet Eras (such as hazing) must be completely eliminated; ALL of the curricula and systems of public education must be COMPLETELY reconstructed; the Russian Orthodox Church must be COMPLETELY restored to its pre-Revolutionary status and position; ALL of the KGB-approved, KGB-screened, and Putin-compliant bureaucrats in the government and the church must be COMPLETELY re-educated or purged, and so must be the ENTIRE military; in addition to the monarchy, the ENTIRETY of the pre-Revolutionary aristocracy and nobility bust be COMPLETELY restored to their pre-Revolutionary position (even if their power is limited to mostly ceremonial/de-jure roles, which was indeed the case before the revolutions of 1905 and 1917, which is probably the best thing anyway for this endeavor); ALL of the states which were extant vassals of the Russian Empire before the moment of the Revolution - namely the Khanate of Khiva, the Emirate of Bukhara, and the independent pre-Revolutionary government of Tannu Tuva (which seceded from China after the Xinhai Revolution that overthrew the Qing dynasty) - must be restored and recognized, even if the reconquest of those states’ territories on those states’ behalf is not tenable for Russia and is not carried out (although it probably can be for those specific states considering that the Russian Federation already occupies Tuva, and considering that the post-Soviet Central Asian states are just puppets of the Russian Federation anyway); ALL territorial losses made by the post-Revolutionary Russian governments - at least, the maximum amount of territory that can be regained without violence - must be regained; and ALL territorial acquisitions made by the post-Revolutionary Russian governments - namely Tannu Tuva, Königsberg/East Prussia (“Kaliningrad”), and the Kuril Islands (perhaps also South Sakhalin) - must be relinquished.

Of course, in order to placate those base desires of the people which are currently gratified by those changed conditions that exist as a result of the Revolutions, this task of restoration will probably have to be accompanied by a number of expensive new changes or programs - that utilize the post-Revolutionary objective advancements in technology, science, and living standards while simultaneously excising all influences and implications of post-Revolutionary political ideology - designed to create a super-efficient state that upholds a society and government which are both sufficiently benevolent and beneficial by objective and materialist standards - those used by capitalists, socialists, liberals, nationalists, populists, and fascists - and completely conducive to pre-Revolutionary ideology. These changes programs may include social welfare enterprises (such as universal healthcare, universal public higher education, etc.), labor protection laws, organized labor privileges, aid to private enterprise, and the implementation of meritocracy and technocracy - subject to sufficient public ideological and political conformity - in the civil service, government bureaucracy, and otherwise regarding the day-to-day affairs of how the entire body and machine of the state (at every level or devolution of government) functions (this is the primary reason why the regime of the People’s Republic of China has so successfully maintained its power). Of course, the population must be completely made to understand that these programs are gifts and privileges granted by the monarchy to the people, and that the monarchy has every right to suspend those privileges and refuse those gifts at any time.

In my opinion monarchs must reign and rule. There can be freely elected parliaments or assemblies, but the monarch must be the chief executive, commander-in-chief, prime ambassador, etc. I have become increasingly convinced that populism and democracy are a danger to civilization and that the executive authority shouldn't be subject to popular whims.
I also do not subscribe to the doctrine of pure self-determination and nationhood in a vacuum, believing instead that vast multi-state/multi-ethnic empires are a natural form of polity and that nationalism is merely a modern form of primitive tribalism and barbarism.

Great video, but the throne pretenders you mentioned are widely seen as not rightful claimants. Also they side with the current regime by copying propaganda narrative, so I don't see them fit to ascend the throne. By law, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia is heir to the throne and a very sensible one at that. He's quite integrated in European royalty and understands the qualities required from a constitutional monarch.

Monarchy Russia is the future, while having a concrete constitution and a parliamentary.... A Neo pseudo Soviet party and it's supporters can still strive in a parliamentary monarchy government... It's more democratic accepted system to revive it's economic industry into a more modernize capitalist way of Russian style...

There is very little populat support and Putin would rather keep his power instead of unstabilizing Russia by restoring the empire.
If it could give him more support, he would surely do it, but it doesn't so its very unlikely that the romanovs ever return
