The wait for Elden Ring continues, but do not go hollow, I will keep uploading DS3 pvp videos every day until Dark Souls 3 is no more. We will always be there to gank spank as long as there is any gankers left to destroy. DS3 2021!

I would like to thank all the Dark Souls 3 content creators for shaping up Dark Souls 3 to the game that it is today. Prod the funny, Chasethebro the great invader, FighterPl the parry king, Saintriot the meta hater, DangitJM the underrated, SunlightBlade the top 10, Peeve Peeverson the almighty, Oroboro the darkmoon blade sellswords, YukasLegion I ban him, VaatiVidya lore fix, LimitBreaker fun facts and my favorites BathedInBrena tournament host and iamamish the role model.

You convinced me, I’m Starting as a wretch.

I'm playing as Wretch. Getting a shitty piece of armour will be soooo satisfying.

If you're worried about optimizing your character for the PvP meta then yeah, wretch is a pretty fucking dumb choice. But 90% of players on their first run of the game are just looking to enjoy the PvE experience and not worry about that shit.

Damn, thank god I saw this video before the game came out. I was really wondering what class to start with but this video cleared it up to me! I'm starting wretch.

pulling the "its not optimal" card for a first playthrough is goofy lmao.

Ima be honest Jee, I don't think most people optimize their first character in any souls game. Your first character is for exploration, like finding cool spells that you suddenly want to use even though you totally dont have the stats for it, or finding that really cool weapon you've never seen before.

I actually use my first characters for platinuming, since they normally have way more progress than any other character. Just my thoughts tho.

I could understand from your perspective, being a top player, your first thought is immediately optimization, but your average player probably isn't thinking like that.

The fun of the deprived class wasn’t ever something optimal, it’s about the experience of trying to make something work while starting off with nothing. Everything you pick up is an upgrade, every piece of armor is appreciated because you don’t have any other option. On a first playthrough where you know the locations of nothing I think that challenge is even more fun.

Also I wouldn’t worry too much about minmaxing because we don’t even really fully understand the meta yet since we’ve seen so little so far. If fromsoft makes the choice to make carry weight influenced by endurance instead of strength like they chose to for this game before receiving backlash, then it’s possible that weapon scaling won’t even matter and people will just go with ashes of war that remove scaling entirely in favour of raw damage output, and every other point put into vigor and endurance for giant dad 2.0

As wretch, I'll be exactly how i feel, a maidenless loser just like in real life.

If it was linear, I'd normally agree. Save wretch for the later playthroughs. But I feel like the open world will let the wretch shine.

L+Ratio+Maidenless+bit player+fully divorced from the strength of runes.

Two reasons why I don't agree. For me at least:

1. it's not about whether the wretch can find any gear early or not. It's that other starting classes usually have great gear. I want to find shitty gear first so that everytime I find something new, it might actually be viable, so it keeps the excitement of looting new gear going for longer.

2. I feel like you're assuming that one knows what build they will be going for endgame. I agree that the vagabond is great if arcane sucks. But what if arcane turns out to be the meta and I want to respec to high arcane, low str/dex. Then the wretch actually has a better foundation to respec from than the vag.

Please let me know if I am missing something, especially regarding the second point !

Anyone can have success with any class. There’s no wrong way to play.

I think the video is assuming all starting characters must be pvp SL optimized stats. I think many people will be going into the hundreds of levels, not caring about pvp level meta.

Wretch won't be nearly as fun if I already know where everything is. Plus, starting at the lowest level is nice. Definitely gonna play Wretch and scavenge like a fucking animal

You don't need to have the perfect skills points distribution to have fun with the game. Wretch is perfect for a first playthrough

wretch's difficulty argument is stupid
every person who's actually played any souls games know that difficulty over other classes only last for the first few minutes

I'm leaning on starting with wretch and going qualitiy with it. I already know I'm not going to pvp with my first character, I'm going to make sure I find every weapon/armor in the game and use this character to mule things to other characters once I get actual build ideas.

I'm going wretch for 1 - the experience of starting with nothing and trying everything 2 - I'm planning to make my first character one that I'll do multiple playthroughs with to platinum and reach a high SL as I've never had a high SL character in one of these games, so stat efficiency will be redundant.

I've always started as a Waste of Skin / Deprived / Wretched is my first playthrough of any soulsborne / souslike game. I find a lot of enjoyment in those classes when first experiencing the games.
If the game does not allow for multiple save files / multiple characters, I will be more deliberate in my decisions.
