There are so many factors that go towards limiting the amount of power you get to exploit from a battery .. the ones I often overlook are temperature, and the rate of current draw (ie. higher draw impacts some cells more significantly, and non linearly). As you say, testing is more valuable than trying to guess from a data sheet.
PS ... are you going to cover the Joule Thief circuit for getting the most out of non-rechargeable batteries ?

I would WAG that like all things there are many variables but in general you would be lucky to get 80% of the maximum give or take 10%. Good information to know! Have a great day!

the thing there is difference in emf vs pd like when the battery with 1.2v / 1000 mah with 10ma current is used will work for 100h (theoretically) but when the battery is given load, the emf of 1.2v will drop down to 1.1 or 1.0 volt somewhere around that.

The question is, what will be the emf / pd when the battery is all used up? till what voltage should we consider the battery be usable like 60%? If so 1.2v can be considered usable till .72v if we consider 60% to be it's utmost usability threshold.

So instead of working for 100h the battery will be usable only for 60h right? and if it works less than that technically we consider the battery health or life to be depleted imo.

Thanks for your amazingly informing videos. I had a question regarding some rechargeable batteries.
I'm working on an ULT freezer which has a 12V 2.5Ah battery on it which is capable of recharging. Can I check if the freezer is charging the battery while its using it? if yes, how? or do I need to charge it outside of the system and use it again after its charged?
also do you have any plans to make some content regarding ULT freezers? there are not many good content on youtube about it.
