This may actually be the worst advice I’ve ever heard. I know multiple of IBs and private equity associates and they all attest to the fact that IB is the best starter job out of college for Wall Street. It’s best for teaching you technical skills and the exit opportunities into other fields are unlike any other

long hours- you think that employees in tech companies dont work the same as investment bankers? You wrong! Try and ask a software developer in startup or big company what is the working hours especially before ipos or mergers or acquisition. They work the same hours as investmant bankers. They also working from home extra hours. if you are started a job in investment bank iam expecting from you to work as much as you can to gain as much knowledge as possible that is very beneficial and its very good for your resume.

Microsoft excel- the kind of people that love finance know that excel is one of the most importent roles in this realm, i can also say the same things on a programmer that works all day infront of a coding rows .

Bad reputation- those people that think that investmant bankers are responsible for the financial crisis are those kind of people that dont have any kind of basic knowledge in finance, utterly dumb people.
