@KillerZero259 It is not bad just normal to have voltage at the starter terminal on the solenoid when you turn the ignition key to the start position and that is what we are testing here.

@mpsarge2 It does sound like a classic bad stater.Lights are bright and do not dim when the ignition key is turned and starter just clicks.

Thanks Rich, took it to Autozone this morning turns out it was the battery and one of the battery terminals had the wrong bolt which was causing a periodic short which explains why at times the indicator light or lights would not work, bought a new battery hopefully this has solved the problem, ...once again thank-you so much for the vid you are such a blessing and great help ....so far just glad it was not the ignition switch ...lol....

@KillerZero259 I put the tape on the screwdriver because voltage will pass up it from the solenoid will testing and you could hit the intake manifold.

@samuelbrainsample Yes it does sound like a classic starter solenoid going bad.

@samuelbrainsample If the voltage to the s terminal on the starter checks out i might then be looking at the crank position sensor.

So I was smoking a bowl and figured I should look up some starter saturn vids since one is coming in the mail soon that im replacing... but yea first I noticed as the video was ending that it was 4:20 long... and I was all like haa.... and then I saw that he has 420 videos at the moment as well and then I was like ahhh! :D

Like for the small moments in life! :p

@karlakatie2215 Yes it is possible, replacing the fuel filter which has the regulator built in just might fix it.

@davidcrouch1 First is the battery good is so do the battery cables have clean contacts if so and you are getting voltage at the purple wire then there is a very good possibility the starter is bad.

Good job, Rich. Bump starting is a skill that few people know, and these days with crowded parking lots it's not without some risk. But you got yourself out of a jamb without having to hire someone else. The practical difficulty is to get your vehicle back to your shop without help. I think it's cool that your dad helps -- lucky guys (ha ha, both of you).

@gst69man O it was probably the solenoid that was bad which is part of the starter so i chose to replace the whole unit.

@samuelbrainsample How old is the battery, are the battery cables in good condition, is the starter getting voltage when you try to start it, is the check engine light on.

@samuelbrainsample I bad it would not be the cps because your problem is the engine does not turn over.
