I wonder why so many people have such an irrational and illogical need for God to be a sadistic torturer.

Sounds like having children is immoral and evil if God throws most humans who have existed in hell.

Eternal torment is unfair and unjust. We didn't choose to live and be born. It is more logical that a merciful God will make hell as a means to destroy an evil soul and end sin. It doesn't make sense that a loving God will torture souls without cease in hell for eternity, because even the most basic loving and sensible person would know that you cannot defeat evil with evil. If God only wants evil and sin to end, what is the sense in tormenting souls for eternity when obviously all those souls are already at the mercy of God. It says in the Bible that the penalty of sin is DEATH, it didn't say the penalty of sin is eternal torture.

If the punishment for the sins of the souls in hell are eternal, and Jesus took the punishment for our sins, then shouldn’t the punishment that Jesus endured be eternal?

*Matthew 25: 46* does not say anything about eternal torture.
_“Then they will go away to eternal punishment_ [ punish-ment, not punish-ing ], _but the righteous to eternal life.”_

*Matthew 3: 12* does not say anything about eternal torture. It says the fire will burn the lost up; consume them; turn them into ashes.
_His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and_ BURNING UP _the chaff with unquenchable fire.”_

The Old Testament Authors didn't even believe in Hell. Hell doesn't even appear until Revelation where it's described as "The second death". Eternal life in Hell isn't death.

*Revelation 14: 10-11* is not talking about hell or eternal torture either one. Young’s literal translation makes it clear that this is talking about living people, on earth.
_”and the smoke of their torment doth go up to ages of ages; and they have no rest day and night, who_ ARE BOWING _before the beast and his image….”_

“Fire is not quenched” *(Mark 9: 45)* in Scripture does not mean eternal torture. It does not even mean the fire never goes out.
_“And they will go out and look on the_ DEAD BODIES _of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”_ (Isaiah 66: 24)

Gotta love it when the self-proclaimed moral champions of the world defend & applaud a purported omnibelevolent entity choosing to inflict infinite amount of suffering through eternal conscious torment for the vast majority of billions-trillions of humans. For the crime of accidentally hurting an unhurtable god's feelings, by not believing this god exists because neither the god's followers nor the omnipotent god itself could be bothered to convince them otherwise.

So Hogwarts exists because a book talks about it. I wonder what Harry is doing these days.

*Matthew 25: 41* does not say anything about eternal torture. It does not even say that the lost are conscious when thrown into the fire, nor does it say what the fire does to them. (It burns them up.)
_“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels._

The word aionios means "eternal" in Greek and is used in the Bible. That word doesn’t mean unending. It means for an eon or a period of time. It means something that happens over and over within a certain period of time. Here is the precises definition on the internet:

The Greek words aion and aionios, and the Hebrew equivalent olam, mean “age” and refer to a specific aeon, epoch or season. Although translated “eternal” and “everlasting”, they simply do not mean forever and ever.

Einstein said: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. That is what the word aionios refers to.

For example: If you keep touching a hot stove, you will burn your hand. It will be eternal unless you stop touching the stove. Hell is the anguish you experience from experiencing negative emotions and situations. The fire in hell is the purging of the dross of that behavior and mental and spiritual attitude. The fire will stop when you change.
Look at the story of the Prodigal Son. He suffered to the point where he said to himself enough is enough. He hit rock bottom and then turned his life around.

Paul said this: “Jesus learned obedience from his suffering.” Same thing.

@ the 2:54 mark: _"The just punishment for that sin is death. Romans chapter 6, verse 23."_ You know what the Bible says, Pastor Nelson. You just quoted it. It says eternal *DEATH.* So, why do you teach the exact opposite? Why do you teach eternal suffering?

Ps 76:10 is not at all talking about people praising God from hell.

Ps 6:5 asks the rhetorical question "Who can praise you from Sheol?" The obvious answer is no one.

Ps 76:10 means the wrath of man will be transformed into praise for God because of their salvation.
