On June 4th, 2020, the nether was mistakenly removed from the game. As was the end- trying to enter any portal would instantly crash the game. And it's not like it was the portals that were broken- the game would break because the nether literally did not exist. So today, I'm gonna show you this plus three more ways that the nether has been broken over the years!
The versions are: 1.16 pre-release 1, 21w39a, 14w26b and 12w49a.

as someone who spends some time trapping myself in the nether, this seems like a challenge to surviving... :)

8:30 getting flashbacks to the OG Yogscast Minecraft series when they tried going to the nether, got the portal working but since the Nether wasn’t added to multiplayer, they were just chilling in the portal watching their screens get nauseous!

The 12w49a nether glitch might have something to do with the old item and block values system, back when the game would use numbers for each block and item rather than strings. I remember an old exploit back in the day that allowed you to somehow increment the block id value or something, and it was used to obtain stone brick variants before they added the crafting recipes for them, and long before the stonecutter.

I think what's happening in that nether in the video is something similar with the game screwing up some maths or something and messing up the block values in the world, so everything just looks random. I'm not 100% sure of course, but that's just my guess based on my bits of knowledge on old Minecraft code :)

I actually really like those first two broken Nethers…they almost feel like something that should be in the game normally to add to the nether’s weirdness

There used to be a bug in the Bedrock edition where instead of netherrack and lava, The Nether would generate out of Water and Stone blocks.

Can't remember if it was happening only on servers or not, but safe to say it was a pain in the butt for us.

And no, this wasn't in the beta versions, it was in an actual version. And it happend multiple times on different occasions

Theres also a "phantom Nether" state where everything is just messed up similar to the third nether glitch
It happens when you enter the Nether from the End instead of the overworld
