“Various variants” is quite a turn of phrase.

Somewhere in the archive or at least I hope it had been released from classification by now, the RAF had filmed the Tornadoes low-flying missions and training around the mountains, sea, etc in all weather.
The cameras' perspective was from the tail of the jets that give you the ultimate goosebumps!!
In the RAF the Tornado was my top favourite jet and I miss them 😢.

The tornado f.3 is one of my favourite aircraft. I don't know why but I think it looks really good but yeah

I'd heard that the Tornado had an amazing terrain following system, 50 feet agl at high speeds.

Loved the design and look of the Tornados. Can't beat a swept wing aircraft for styling. My favourite being the F14 😊

I remember going to RAF marham as a young cadet standing next to one as its engines spooled up feeling the heat gave me goosebumps 😍

I saw one of these in Bodø, Norway, back in 2004 when I was ststioned at the RNoAF base there. It definitely lived up to its' name. It felt more noisy than any other aircraft that visited, including 4 RF Su-27 Flankers.

Who played the fantastic simulation "Tornado" by Digital Integration in the 90s?

That’s the airplane of the 80‘s, together with the F4 Phantom. I can still hear the roaring sound of freedom over my children’s house in western Germany.
A show of Europe’s engineering capabilities.

The anti runway dispenser when empty is jettisoned not as 1 object, but to save any turbulence smashing it back into airframe it is let go in 4 parts, sequentially. Just one of those odd things that you see and find really impressive.

Still don't think retiring them was a good idea. Keep them in reserve at least.

Backbone & frontline fighter ? How was it in air to air combat, compared to the F-16 & the Mig 29 ?

Thank you for this 👌. The Tonka is one of my favourite aircraft of all time. A story worth reading is Tornado by John Nichol. 👌.

Good short, but the word is nuclear - pronounced new-clear - not "nukuler."

The GR4 like othe weapons amd vehicles from the Cold War were never really tested in a way that such cpnflict such as the Vietnam War did for the F14, the M16 did for US Military, the idea of Top Gun (not the movie), was actyally shaped the sucess of North Vietnamese Airforce against the USAF.

The Falklands War does mot count.
