This, to me, helps to better explain how the parents didn't realize Kevin didn't board the plane before takeoff. They would have noticed there was an extra ticket, and Kevin wasn't with them while they were at the Gate! Great catch, sir!!

Just a whole bunch of elements coming together. The ticket going in the trash. Kevin getting sent to sleep in the attic alone. The power going out causing them to oversleep. The neighbor kid coming over and get accidentally counted as Kevin. It was the perfect storm 😂
