Mirabel speaks to the house and understands it! She is connected to the house and to the candle. Her family were blind to her gift! The door didn’t melt away because she was powerless, it melted away because her “room” was the entire house, meaning everyone’s gifts are tied to her gift. The house only cracked and fell apart when Mirabel began to have doubts and felt powerless, so when she was powerless so was everyone else. Even at the end of the movie I still don’t think the family understood just how important Mirabel is to them keeping their powers

Mirabel’s dress has butterflies on it.

In the spiritual world a butterfly means personal transformation or profound change and growth; as well as the beauty of life’s continuous unfolding.

An important message carried by the spirit of the butterfly is about the ability to go through important changes with grace and lightness. 🦋

In essence the butterfly is about rebirth and renewal… which is what happened towards the end of the movie.

Here's another Encanto one for you.

At the start of the movie, Mirabel starts off the Family Madrigal song by calling out "Casita, Help me out! Drawers, Floors, Doors" and Casita starts them off beating to the music.

At the climax of the movie, as Casita is falling apart, Casita is doing everything she can to save and protect the family.

A couple beams slide out of the balcony like a drawer to catch Camilo and Isabela as they fall.

The floor pushes several members of the family outside.

Two doors rush to form an arch over Mirabel to protect her from falling debris.

Not only that but her dress actually foreshadowed her future as the next holder of the magic candle and glue to the magic of the home. She has butterflies all over her dress and just like the candle it also has a butterfly. Not only that but only her and her grandmother ebuela can talk and control the house when they ask. I think Mirabel's gift was her happiness. Anytime she got upset, the magic would diminish and when she was really happy (like the time she hugged her sister Isabella) the candle would burn brighter. I think her joy kept the magic going

I think the Mirabele didn’t get powers because when she touched the candle she rubbed the magic off on her dress.

I actually knew this because of Matpat’s theory that Mirabel is actually the next keeper of the house and that is why her dress represents all of the madrigal families members. Something to think about.
