KIDS' CHORES! | AGE APPROPRIATE LISTS | RAISING RESPONSIBLE CHILDREN!

Good morning! Today I'm tackling an often asked question...all about kids' chores! I'm simply going to go through lists of age appropriate chores for kids aged 2-8. Your list won't look the same as mine, but these are some of the responsibilities we try to teach our children at these ages.

Hi everyone! My name is Julie, and I'm a mama to FIVE! My kids are 10, 8, 7, 5, and 2. I love these ideas! My son loves helping me with EVERYTHING! He is 5 and he does dishes and I watch to make sure he cleans them well, makes his bed, cleans his room, vacuum, mops, makes sandwiches, folds his pajamas and puts his clothes away. He really enjoys helping around the house, and spending time with his mama💕

Love this! My oldest will be 18 this year. Each of my kiddos are assigned a different room each week as their chore. She’ll be leaving soon so she has been mentoring her 6 year old brother. He is assigned the same room as her and she is in charge of teaching him how to do those chores and overseeing to make sure it’s done well. (Teaching chores has always been so hard for me as a mom of several children. It just feels like a waste of time in the moment because it would be so much faster to just do them my self but boy is it helpful once they’ve mastered them!!!)

What lovely tips! My two year old, Nya feeds her bunny every morning, and cleans up her toys every afternoon. I found it gives her a sense of purpose, and she's actually happier!

This is so helpful! Growing up, I did not do any chores because mom wanted them to be done fast and now as an adult sometimes I struggle but I know I can do it! Will definitely do this with my future children as I know teaching them responsibilities will be useful in the long run!

Great video that a lot of parents should watch... some teach their kids little to nothing or don’t trust them to actually do chores... I will admit that my son has been an only child most of his life so he has less daily chores and he helped me a lot when he was 3 to 7 yo, but didn’t do many chores on his own. I love that you trust your little ones with quite a few chores...

One thing I would suggest adding to this video would be pet chores (feeding the dog, brush the animal, taking him for a walk, giving the cat/dog a bath, cleaning the litter box, cleaning the hamster cage, etc....) and Outdoor home chores (like weeding the garden, picking ripe veggies, watering flowers/garden, raking leaves, shoveling snow, planting flowers and seeds, cleaning porch and porch furniture, cleaning off swing set, cutting grass, trimming grass, etc).

I’d love to see an update to this video with pet and outdoor chores and your opinions on when kids are old enough to do them...I really liked this video....

Thankfully my son is a teen now and can do lots of chores to help out... I have severe health problems and can’t do many regular household chores... He is such a big help... he does my clothes and his own and his girlfriends... I fold mine and put them away... He also feeds the dog, walks him, bathes and brushes him and his teeth, and vacuums, takes out garbage, etc... he does shovel snow and helps with cutting grass, etc. He and his girlfriend have been learning to cook different foods, especially since Covid hit and they spend most of the time at home..

Thank you for this video, and it was such a helpful reminder of teaching them as you go. Would love to see a video of how they help bake and make meals as well as do they have a chore chart or do you just tell/ask then what needs to be done.

You have some good ideas. I really didn't have to many chores when I was young. I took recycleables out and washed dishes. I am so glad we got a non-human dishwasher when Mom and Dad redid our kitchen three years ago because I hate washing dishes! I still live with my folks so I do things to help out around the house, although I am a procrastinator LOL! kOne of my favorite shirts says I put the pro in procrastination!

So helpful, and a great list of chores according to kids ages! We’ve added a new “jobs” layer.. we don’t pay for their normal chores but, now I post jobs with a certain amount of “mama bucks” I’ll pay for that job and they love it, especially when they are really wanting something and need money!

Thanks I am always trying to think up new chores for my chlidren to do. I tried to every night think of a handful of chores that my children can help me out around the house so this video gives me a lot of choices. 💖
