The Hisense U8/U8N is a mid-range TV released in 2024 and replaces the popular Hisense U8/U8K. It's part of Hisense's ULED lineup, sitting above the U6N and U7N but below their flagship UX model. It has a new chipset and promises better brightness and contrast than its predecessor.

Can’t wait to see the 75” review. Better panel, brighter, and more local dimming zones than any other size. And the price seems like an incredible value

The 75" u8n has a ADS IPS display while the 55", 65", and 85" have a VA display. The viewing angles on the 75" should be much better with that type of panel. It would be great if you could take a look at the 75" model.

Thanks so much for this review. It's actually the U7N that I am curious about, but this should give an idea of what to expect at least.

I'm getting my U8N in a few days, so after watching various reviews other than this one. I'm not going wrong with this TV.

Caleb with Digital Trends gave it a very positive review. He didn’t say it was perfect but said most people would be happy with it. But if you’re that 1% that has to have the best at whatever cost then it’s probably not for you. The Sony 7 she mentioned as a better alternative is almost twice the cost.

Great review. Definitely confirms my biggest worries however! The 2 standout QC issues, bugs, and color inaccuracies are enough to keep me AWAY from Hisense yet again this year :( I had high hopes their new 85/100u8n would be better but after this and other reviews, I’m convinced I’ll look to the new TCL and Sonys for our next big tv 🎉 thank you for your hard work!
Ps. I had really hoped the online tv reviewers woulda called Hisense out on their QC issues this year, maybe y’all did and they just didn’t listen :/ oh well 🎉

I bought the 100” U8K for $2999 and paired it with the Sonos Arc, Sub & pair of Era 300s for $2000. In my bright living room that gets a lot of south florida sun light, it’s been an amazing home theater setup for $5000. Paired it with my PS5, Xbox Series X, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch & IPTV Box. Zero regrets and I’ll pick a Hisense at the 100” size over any OLED that’s smaller. My LG C1 77” is literally collecting dust now and looks like a dim ipad on the wall compared to my 100” U8K.

Curios to see how this TV compares to TCL's new QD mini-led model (QM851G), especially considering the latter's 65 inch model is $350 more expensive in my region. It might be worth it if the software is more stable and has better eotf tracking.

Thank you so much love your reviews.
It was nice to see a critical review of a Hisense television unlike the fawning reviews I’ve seen recently, which have not seemed balanced.

EXCELLENT REVIEW - thinking about getting one of these tvs

I really wanted another OLED LG tv but Best Buy had the U8N on sale for $999. We had just bought new kitchen appliances, so I had around $700 in BB rewards which included a gift card. When I put the TV in the cart to pay for it there were all these other coupons. I somehow only needed $26 out of my pocket. When I told my wife, she was confused too, but happy I didn’t cost us more money. I usually fight for the most expensive on my list but this was by far the cheapest. The he TV arrives tomorrow, so hopefully I don’t regret not getting an OLED.

Awesome review as always. Apologies in advance for the incoming long-winded comment...

Have loved (mostly) the 2023 U8K I gifted my parents for Christmas. Our only complaint is the Sonos Arc + Sonos One Surrounds have consistently experienced a bug on the unit's eArc HDMI port since Day 1. If the TV's audio settings are set to "Pass Through, " several times across an hour of viewing, specifically streamed through set-top-boxes or other third party devices hooked up to the U8K's other HDMI 2.1 port will present a very annoying echoy distortion in the content's audio. It's unclear/seems to be completely random as to what causes the audio distortion and it goes away on it's own after 10-30 seconds, but is only a matter of time before it happens again and again.

We've run a full gauntlet of troubleshooting steps since the TV was first installed. Power cycle devices. Replace all the cables and make sure they have a valid HDMI Ultra High Speed certification. Swap out different devices to rule out if it's a problem from the set-top-box or gaming console or etc. Factory reset the Hisense, factory reset the Sonos system, made sure firmware/software is all up to date. Use Manual/Custom DNS instead of Automatic. We have gigabit internet service and speeds are consistently at expected levels with good signal on all devices.

The only "fix" that has worked is more of a workaround than a real fix. We have to shut off "Pass Through" and settle for Doly Digital Plus for the U8K's audio setting instead - however this seems to mean losing the ability to have Dolby Atmos when it's available.

The U8K's native streaming apps have not presented the same echoy audio problem when "Pass Through" is re-enabled, the problem has been specific to streaming from other devices connected to the U8K via its HDMI 2.1 port. I'd like to test on the other ports, sadly the U8K's other HDMI ports do not support the HDMI 2.1 spec.

As an owner of a plasma tv years ago and from what I’ve heard and read OLED still has some burn in issues over time just like the plasma tv’s of the past.
Even if the burn in is less than the plasma tv’s of yesterday year I’m sticking with the mini-led tv’s for now……imho.
I’ve read that the new U7N is comparable to last years U8K……..

Blurriness on the leading edge of bright objects is way better than blooming. Great improvement.

I was almost convinced not to buy the u7k due to "bad viewing angle" reviews. Imho "the tv gets smaller at an angle" is the only concern you should have in regards to viewing angle, the brightness difference is negligible in comparison. I was a samsung prophet before but now i sing hisense hymns. Sony, well, you dont really find sony in SA, it's not even listed as a supported dstv device so not sure if you can watch sports on sony in SA, also, shops dont really stock them.
